    Weight gain in 1st trimester

    HI
I'm currently 10 weeks and 2 days. So far I have gained 4.1Kg. Last time I spoke to my dr he said you normally gain between 2-3kg.
I'm just a bit worried of gaining too much weight. Has anyone else gained this much or more at this stage?

I think it depends on if you are getting bloating and nausea. I have gained 3kg so far (and counting!!) but I am sooo bloated, have had nausea that only responds to eating and have been ordered not to exercise due to some bleeding. Everyone is different and every pregnancy is different too.

Yep i did. I think it all depends on how much weight you need to put on iykwim. With my 1st i started off at 58kg but i am 5"9 so that was a bit on the too skinny side. By 12 weeks i was up to 64kg so 6kg I put on 18kg throughout the whole pg and ppl still said i didnt look pg from the back. With no 2 i still had a little extra weight from my 1st pg and started off at 69kg and didnt put anything on til about 20wks. In total i put on 13 in that pg. Just remember everyone is different and every pg is diff too. You never know you might not put anything on in your 2nd tri. As long as you are eating a well balanced diet i wouldnt stress- let your body do it's thing.

    Thanks guys.
It does make me feel a bit better. I have been exercising at "contours gym"
(for women) and have been eating pretty healthy. Just dont end up like an elephant in the end with heaps of weight to try to lose after the birth IYKWIM
Its good to know there are ppl similar to me. I just feel like all the pregnanty women I see just look slim with a bump infront rather than looking fat all over
Im about 5ft 7inch and weigh 74.7kg atm.
Guess I shouldnt worry about my weight so much until after the little one is born. Since for the time being I cant do much about it.

    hi there
I put on 14kg in the first 2 trimesters. Most of it was in the 1st one.. andabout 1 kg in third trimester with DD... so i wouldnt worry.

I lost it all plus some within 6 months

I am glad to hear of this topic also. Except I am a little concerned that in my first trimester I hadn't put on any weight or lost weight either. The week before last I weighed myself and it said I had put on about 500grams aprox. Then this morning it says I have lost 1.5 kg. Its an old set of scales so there is a chance it is wrong. So tomorrow night I am going to get myself a nice new digital scale and see what it says. I have not been sick really and although I do eat 3 meals a day with snacks in between, I am just not as hungry as I expected I would be. I get full faster and if I eat too much I feel so sick. I am just worried that if I haven't put any weight on yet then maybe baby has stopped growing or something is wrong with him/her. But I still get stretching cramps in lower abdo almost every day and boobs are either sore or itchy so things seem to still be happening. Although the rash that I had on my tummy and boobs that has something to do with hormones has gone. I hope that is not a bad sign either. I am hoping that Dr will be able to listen to baby heart beat next week when I see him.
