Will a heartbeat be visible at 6 weeks?

    Hi,

Im sure this has been asked before but is there always a heartbeat at 6 weeks?

I am having an ultrasound in 2 weeks so I will be 6 weeks and 1 day. My ob is sending me for the scan as it is a clomid pregnancy, and I have had a missed miscarriage before and I had lots of dramas with my DD and he goes away on holidays not long after so I will be able to tell him if the scan was ok.

With my DD I had a scan at 7 weeks and we could see and hear the heartbeat very clearly.

Can't believe I am already so stressed bout it all again. Ahh, need to relax and try and enjoy the ride...

I saw my DS2’s heartbeat at 5 weeks 6 days. It was 105bpm. But it is not unusual not to see a heartbeat at 6 weeks, so maybe don’t get your hopes up too high? If you don’t see a heartbeat, it may just be too early.

Wishing you all the very best for your scan.

Hi hun and congrats on your pg! At 6 weeks it could be too early......In both my pg I had the first scan at around 7 weeks and the nurse explained that sometimes at 6 weeks it's too early to see it, so at 7 weeks it's much better.

Hi lovely. I totally understand how you're feeling, it is such an anxious time.

If you don't see anything try not to be worried, as the other gals have said it could be too early. My FS didn't want me to have a scan until at least 7-8 weeks for this very reason, she didn't want me to freak out. However I had an early scan today at 5 w 5 d and saw the faintest flicker of a heartbeat.

Hope it all goes well for you xxx

I had an ultrasound at 5w4d with DD and couldnt detect a heartbeat but i had one at 5w6d with this pregnancy and got a heartbeat of 115bpm so it really depends so dont be upset or worried if they dont pick it up.

Ianto's heartbeat was seen at 5w5d, if I remember correctly. But the ultrasound tech said that's the earliest he'd ever managed to pick one up - in fact, the next day I had another u/s and THAT guy said "there's no way we'll see a heartbeat, you're only 6 weeks"

In short, no there isnt always a heartbeat at that stage, especially if implantation was a day or too later than you thought iykwim.

DDs heartbeat was there at 6 wks 2 days but that was my first scan so not sure if it could have been detected earlier. Big deep breathes Razzberry you CAN do this.

I had an U/S with my last pregnancy at 6 weeks and there was a heart beat detected but only just. She had trouble picking it up initially but ended up doing an internal U/S and picked it up.
