    20 week scan

We have our scan tomorrow, and I've lost the piece of paper with the instructions on plus can't remember from last time - but do I have to drink a litre of water in the hour beforehand and no peeing?

    TIA

Babys a lot bigger now, much easier to see. I did drink b4 hand.....not a litre by any means...defn not as much as with 12-14 wk scan. Infact, i think with #4 i was in such a hurry, i had my morning coffee, then scooted to the ultrasound place......

I was told empty bladder an hour before then drink 600ml water over the next hour and hold
So if your app is at say 11am, then you would empty at 10am then start drinking the 600ml over the next hour no need to skull, and don't pee.

Im pretty sure it is only 500mls for the 20week scan. Dont quote me but I know I certainly didnt have to drink a litre.

    Hay,

my instructions ,us on monday, say pee about an hour before and then drink 4 cups so 800ml -1lt and not pee again, now if you ask me that is a form of torture, but for the 13 week scan I had I tried, now while waiting for the scan, I just went nup, I can't wait any longer and if I don't go now I might pee my pants, so I went, and then downed about 2 cups of water before the scan, no complaints from the sonographer.

I think the best thing is to just make sure you stay hydrated, and take some water to the appointment, 'cause you will probably wait for 15 to 30 minutes for your scan anyway.

Enjoy your 20 week scan. I almost cry when I see that baby, and the heartbeat, and then they move, and you can see the fingers & toes, oo it makes me giddy thinking about it.
