I am probably more worried about that 6 week checkup after bubs is born, then i am about the actual birth.
What happens? I have head some horrid stories, which has got me abit scared, hense the thread/question.
My 6 week checkup was pretty non-eventful.. I just went to my GP and he basically asked how i was feeling (physically and mentally) and we talked about that I could call or come back anytime I neeeded help and also talked about other commnity help available. I think he also asked about my labour (how long and was it spontaneous or induced) and whether I was breasrfeeding/formula feeding and how it was going. I also had some stitches from tearing and I asked him to look at those to make sure they were healing nicely. He also checked Claire, just things like her reflexes and muscle tone. It really wasnt a big deal. I should have also got a pap smear but I was too scared as I was still feeling a big temder there, kwim.
Dont worry, in my experience, it wasnt scary at all.
My 6 week check up after DS was also non-eventful, basically just had a chat and got a pap smear (may as well while the dr is there!). Please don't feel worried about it!
Hi - it was nothing to worry about. I did have an internal so the dr could make sure that everything had returned to normal other than that it was like everyone elses - asked about the labour, asked how I was feeding DD, asked about contraception, and then he checked over my DD and that was that. Nothing to worry about at all.
My 6 week check up was even more non-eventful than some of yours! I thought it was just a chance to show off my baby to the receptionist I'd been seeing throughout the pg!!
He just checked my scar (I'd had a c/s) and asked how I was. Talked about birth control while I was bf. He didn't do a pap smear 'cause he says a lot come up with dodgy results that close to giving birth. I had an appt with the paed a few days beforehand so there was no need for him to check DD.
Mine was pretty much the same. Pap test, lecture on doing pelvic floor exercises, contraception. See ya later. As I went to an Ob he was not intersted in the baby or feeding or anything at all to do with her. He was a bit of a cold fish actually and didn't even look at her, but I guess he sees hundreds of babies though.
