accupuncture or hynotherapy for M/S ??

I'm really suffering with morning (all day) sickness and lethargy, and it's taking it's toll on me.

Apart from attempting to run my businesses, I've got a very patient 1 year old to look after as well! Add to this the fact that we want to sell our house & buy another one within the next 6 months... aaahhh!!!!

I had bad m/s with my first pregnancy, until the 16th week. I have tried all the remedies.... and even the prescription medication isn't helping this time.

I am wondering if anyone has tried accupuncture or hypnotherapy to help with their morning sickness?? I'm open to just about anything at this point! But I would like to get some feedback - and if anyone has had it in Melbourne a recommendation would be ideal.

Try this accupressure spot for heartburn and MS. Three finger widths from the inside wrist in between the 2 tendons you can feel, apply pressure for 30- 60 seconds and it should relieve it for you, use as needed. It worked for my heartburn to an extent and I wish I had have known about it when I had MS but I only just learned about the spot 3 weeks ago. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip Sarah. This is the sort of thing that 'sea bands' do... they have a 'button' that presses on that spot... but it does nothing for me....

I think I need some heavy duty stuff. I've never had accupuncture before... but willing to try it if he can rebalance my hormones or whatever it is that causes all this shocking m/s and lethargy.

I'm thinking that half my problem is stress related with work/home/child. I've got a lot on my plate, but I really can't neglect any of them. I'm not working much at all (not in the salon) and the staff have been wonderful - but there is still a lot that needs to be done to keep the business running.

Well I hope you can find someone in Melbs to do the accupuncture and that it works. You do sound busy, I used to run a hair salon pre pregnancy and I couldn't do it with a child and another on the way. That being said I am going to be opening an interior design business now :S

Wishing you all the best hun!

Jodie - i can't tell you what will help with m/s cos i don't have it that bad, but i was going to try accupuntue for my eczema (my BIL tried it for hayfever/allergies and got good results)... but i have to wait until my current treatment finishes so i know which one is working

Anyhoo, my BIL brother (well, not actually BIL, my sisters fiancee brother), is a dr who did a course in accupuncture, he was going to do it on me for free, but lives in the dandenongs.. he told me about about his collegue, works at the Alfred, is a GP also, so apparently if you get a referral he can bulkbill you for the accupunture..

If you want i can find out his name for you.

    Good luck, hope it works.

hehehe.... you're funny Yael... it sounds like "a friend of a friend of a friend..."

Might be worth checking out... especially if they could bulk bill.
If there's any chance getting an email contact or phone # that would be handy...
you could pm me, or contact me via either of my business websites...

I'm in Keysborough, and as you know; business in Balaclava... but I'm willing to travel if I have to. Wondering if there is any that 'specialise' in pregnancy/hormonal issues??

I had pretty horrid m/s with #2 and pretty bad lethargy as well. Accunpunture, while not a miracle cure, certainly helped me. It helped me relax a little and I also felt a little less tired.

I also had a lot of acupuncture in the weeks leading up to #2 birth. I was feeling great and I had a wonderful birth and attribute some of that to the accunpuncture.

Next time I'm preggers and if I have m/s (it would be a miracle if I didn't), I'll be doing it again.

Jodie and any others in Melbourne... fertile Ground in Albert East Melbourne are just the best group of caring women's health practitioners you could get. I have been having infertility treatment with Milly one of the owners and acupuncturist as well as with Margaret one of their fantastic naturopaths. They have great results with morning sickness.....I can't rec ommend them enough....MIlly and Jacinta are acupuncturists who have both treated me and I would not hesitate to recommend to you if you are willing to travel that far... I know I am and do from Langwarrin. I hope this helps.

    Thanks too Melanie!

Is Albert East a suburb...? or Albert Park - or East Melbourne?? Either way... I'll look it up (fertile ground).

Right now... I don't even care how much it would cost me, if I could get results - I would pay anything to reduce the m/s and/or lethargy!!

    thanks for your comments!

Sorry Jodie...tired fingers typing...should be Albert Street East Melbourne, the one back from Victoria Parade....... near the Freemasons Hossy...I think it is about $60 or $70 for an hour session but if you have private health you may be able to claim some back...I get about $30 back on mine.

    Hi

The doctors which I have just been to bulk bills for accupuncture(it is in Perth so not much help) but as far as I know if its done by a GP it is covered by medicare. Have a look on the net, you may find out where one is close to you that way. I have been snacking my way through gingernuts all day as I have bad all day sickness...hoping it will end soon.

I phoned two accupuncturists this morning....

It turns out that accupuncture alone won't help. I would have to take a wad of the chinese herbs as well. And I am not keen on 'eating/drinking' anything else... even if it helps.

The mere thought of ginger makes me puke. One of the accupuncturist suggested ginger beer - and I said there was no chance.

I think I will just have to ride the wave of m/s and hope it eases up in the 2nd trimester. I'm 11 weeks now. And I had m/s until my 16th week last time. I just hope I don't have 5 more weeks (or more) of this feeling!!!

    thanks for your replies girls
