Advice from mums: Am I pregnant?

    Hi ladies

    I'm just looking for advice.

I've never had a regular period per se and whilst my husband and I aren't actively trying for a baby w rely on the 'pull out' method - we just want things to happen more or less naturally.

My last period was roughly in the beginning of September and its roughly around the beginning of each month give or take a couple of days. This month my period was a week late and when it did arrive it was only for a day before it stopped.

For the past three weeks or so I have been experiencing a few symptoms of pregnancy. I've been feeling sick/throwing up, craving weird food (I only wanted eggs at one stage) or when I get food that I thought I wanted I don't want it anymore - even the sight of it is enough to make me feel queasy. I also have a loss of apetite. I've been getting increasingly tired and the past couple of days especially my lower back has been aching.

I've also had a lot of gas/indigestion which isn't like me, and constipation which isn't like me either. I've done 4 htps now and all of them are negative, which should be a pretty good indicator but for some odd reason I just don't trust the results. I feel fvery heavy in my abdoment and really bloated, and I just know that something isn't quite right. I strongly suspect that I am pregnant. I've booked in with the Doc but he can't get me in for another few days.

I was just wanting to get a few opinions in the interim. Have any of you had hpts that have been negative when you were pregnant? I have done all 4 first thing in the morning and habve even bought one that is supposedly more sensitive than the others. If I am pregnant I would think I'd be about 6-7 weeks along.

Thanks for any replies and advice.

Hmmm it's a hard one to tell best advice I can give is to get a blood test done by your Gp, those symptons could be signs of POS or another number of things that mess with your body particulary your menstral cycle, it isn't always a pregnancy!

    Hope this helps,
    Best of luck!

I would go out and buy a hpt and test first thing in the morning!

Hmmmm, well you could be. The symptoms seem good, except for AF... I would have thought a HPT would show a positive by now BUT some woman dont get a positive at all (SIL got negatives when she was pregnant).

I would go to the dr for a blood test if you think you are pregnant

It would be unlikely to have a negative at 6 or 7 weeks, but it could also be possible that you ovulated late and aren't as far as long as you think. Or there could be another explanation for your symptoms. There are a lot of tummy bugs going around. So really, without a blood test, there is no way to know. Out of interest, how are your breasts? Any discomfort, tingling etc? That can also be an early sign.

Fingers crossed hun that you get the result that you want.

Wow thanks for the responses ladies.

I'm already booked in with the doc (I hate needles BOOHOO) but not for a couple days.

It's really good just to get other people's perspectives.

Leasha - its refreshing to know that your SIL got neg results too. Maybe I'm normal after all lol.

    Thanks again.

Manta - My breasts are a little sore today but nothing unbearable. I dont normally get any discomfort with them even with AF.

loutopia.. im in your position as well! ive got the same symptoms as well as very bright urine! pimples.. and im nearly 2 weeks over due.

no AF yet. saw my DR yest and she did a HPT and it was neg. but that was a during the day time tho too. she said if i still dont have my AF in another two weeks to come back and she will do some blood tests to determine what is going on..

apparently you can ovulate late even though the guide line is 14 days after the first day of your AF.. but who knows and whos to say every ones body is the same!

good luck i hope you get the results your after. .. im just praying for my AF soon so i can rule it out either way!

Amsta - I know what you mean!

I would be happy to be pregnant, but if I'm not then its okay too. I just want to know either way. LOL. Thanks for the response, seems to me this happens to a lot of people!
