Another tablet question!!

Bought myself a jar of Blackmore's Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Gold tablets today (I was a bit at the price..but oh well...lol). My problem is that they are gigantic I have enough trouble swallowing panadol or my folate tablets which are probably 1/4 to 1/2 the size of these horse pills.. Tried to swallow one tonight and I just couldn't, it was either going to make me choke or chuck...
I know they are meant to be swallowed, but would it be ok if I chopped them in half and just swallowed the powder? As for me it is going to impossible to swallow them as they are...or any tips on what else I could do to get them down there??

Oh gosh, I have no idea about that. I think by memory there is a Blackmores hotline. Maybe check out their website?

It does get easier swallowing them though. I find its easier once youre not so queasy as well.

I wonder if some other bb'ers have another brand which might be smaller?

I don't know about cutting them in half but I can only take tablets if I put the water in my mouth first and then the pill and then swallow.
Don't know if that will help.

take them with milk or juice, makes it alot easier!!

Thanks for the suggestions! Have tried everything though and still can't swallow...nearly spewed a couple of times...I have a pretty bad gag reflex, and I never used to be able to swallow tablets at all. Going to go back to the chemist tomorrow morning and see what they say, but will probably end up buying new ones, I've heard Elivit tablets are smaller and only need one tablet/day. So I may have a pretty much full jar of Blackmore's tablets needing a new home

I am sure you could cut them in half and take the two pieces.. If you can be bothered. Elevit arent that much different in size and if you think Blackmores are expensive you will not be impressed with their price (around $50).

I read a tip on swallowing tablets the other day which may help... instead of throwing your head back to swallow.. lean forward.. the pill will then float to the back of your throat making it easier to get down! I tried it with Panadol and it worked... but maybe with those horse tablets it may not be so effective.
