    Question Anterior cervix

Just needing a little help, had my 40 week appointment today and on my notes my Ob has written - cervix anterior 1cm long, 1-2cm dilated.

I understand the 1-2cm dilated but is an anterior cervix favourable? Is that what i want it to be in order to go into labour? She didnt say anything about it at the appointment, i only just read my antenatal record and saw it on there.

I also had a s&s, **** - how much did that hurt Hopefully things will be underway shortly

    TIA

im no expert but know that for most of the pregnancy the cervix lies towards the back of the vagina, behind the baby's head. This is called a 'posterior cervix' and is often hard to reach by your OB if they are performing a vaginal examination. Near the time of labour and / or during prelabour and early labour, the cervix starts to move towards the front of the baby's head. This is known as either a 'central' or 'anterior cervix' (depending on how far forward it has moved), and can usually be easily felt by your OB if being examined.
    So its good news

also when i went into labour on the monday night i had, had my appt with my OB that morning - not sure if she did a S&S but she did something and it hurt and i was uncomfy for the rest of that day (and night when the contractions started and the next morning LOL)
So fingers are crossed that things happen tonight for u!

Thanks hun, she did say that if the s&s was going to help then it will happen within the next 24 hours or so. It s abit uncomfy but not painful now.

Still trying to dogde the induction bullet but my PE hasnt gotten any worse so that's a bonus

Sounds like i want to have an anterior cervix then!
