Anterior placenta means c-section?

I was doing some googling and came across some info suggesting if you have an anterior placenta you will need a c-section because the contractions during labour can dislodge the placenta. Is this true? I am truly terrified of having a c-section :-(

Had anterior placenta both times and both vaginal births here. Never heard of that one.

Huh!? First I've heard of it! I have an anterior placenta too. Im preeeetty sure it does not mean a c-section but I'm also very interested in what others have to say! Xx

Nope, not true!! Actually you'd think a c/s would be more risky than normal if your placenta is at the front where they cut!

I've never heard of it, I have an anterior placenta too... I have heard that it can be more tricky to perform CS if you have anterior placenta, but that is fairly rare.

I am pretty sure i had an anterior placenta and had a VB. The only info i came across was that an anterior placenta can mean it takes longer for you to feel baby kicking.

If you want to avoid a c section, look into active birth techniques and do what you can to avoid intervention.

I'm another that's never heard of that. I've had 3 vaginal births, 2 with anterior placentas

I've never heard of that.. and if anything like a PP said, you'd think it'd increase the risk of a c/s because it could be where they need to cut!

The only thing I've heard.. but haven't looked up properly, is that the baby tends to face the placenta.. so more likely to be posterior? But like I said.. haven't researched that one

Don't worry mate. There is probably more risk of it being across your cervix if its anterior rather than posterior but it doesn't mean automatic c-section. This is my 3rd anterior one. And my c-section wasn't because of it!

No. Anterior here as well and the medical staff are planning me for a vaginal birth. As long as you don't have a low laying placenta later on the pregnancy there is no reason for a C, but that would mean a C even if it was a posterior placenta.

What a load of bull. I've had 3 anterior placentas and all 3 were uncomplicated vaginal births.

I have come to the realisation that everyone needs to stop reading the internet, it's full of crap.
