I'm sure it won't have any effect. Plenty of women smoke throughout their pg and have healthy babies so I'm sure one night of 2nd hand smoke won't do anything. The only thing is it could make you feel sick I can't stand the smell of smoke and when I was pg my smelling was so super sensitized. Having said all that I wouldn't want to be around 2nd hand smoke either - perhaps your parents could smoke outside while you're staying with them?
The information that I got from SIDS suggests that the baby is kept away from smoke before & after birth, so it's probably not a good idea to stay around it too much, but I live with my parents at the moment and they both smoke, and I just do my best to make sure that I'm not around them too much while they are smoking.
yeah they should get into the habit of smoking outside while you are there for when bub comes. i dont think it will do any harm at all though once in a while.
One night won't hurt, but it might make you feel a bit sick being cooped up in a room with smokers I smoked through 2 pregnancies and had very healthy, fat little babies... not that that's any justification, but if it reassures you that you won't do any lasting damage then I hope it helps.
Are your parents accommodating enough to smoke outdoors for the duration of your stay? I'm sure a kind word to them about it before you arrive would go a long way, I booted DH out of the house to smoke the minute we found out we were expecting #1 and he didn't mind at all.
As a PP said, you cop worse toxins from walking down a busy street in broad daylight (mainly traffic exhaust etc), so don't stress
