    Baby shower invitation wording

How can I word my baby shower invitation?

At the moment, I can't decide whether it's a morning or afternoon thing... but I'll get there.

We don't have a huge back yard. So mum suggested asking not to bring kids to the baby shower (yet there will probably be my ds, DH's friend - to keep him company - is bringing his little girl, and my niece and nephew...)

also, we wanted to ask no stuffed toys. MIL suggest no toys in general coz DS has heaps.

How would I go about wording these so as not to offend?

MIL suggests a list of things we need so it makes it easier on the guest, but I think that it comes off a bit presumptuous (for lack of a better word).

People might have to bring a chair, coz omg the list is long! How would I put that on there too?

    What did your invitation say?

When I was having DD#1 we added an extra little note with present ideas, such as the specific sling I wanted and a few little things a lot of people wouldn't think of, you could do much the same and add a foot note that your son is kindly handing his toys down to his baby sibling, hence why we have not requested toys..... Or something to the effect of.

One idea my friend suggested was a book to replace a card. A personal note was made on the inside cover.

I've been to a few showers with a baby shower register at a baby store or even a friend had a list of suggestions and guests could email / phone that person for ideas.

I like Tiff's suggestion of toys being passed down.
