Back Pain. Could it be labour?

I'm asking this on behalf of my sister who is about 36ish weeks pregnant.

This is going to be scattered because I am exhausted, just got home from work and can't function but need some opinions.

She was told she is having contractions but said she couldn't feel them, she has a really sore back which she didn't mention to the dr so they sent her home. I've just spoken to her and she says she feels 'off'. She's irritable and the pain in her back is getting worse. I suggested it could be labour but she doesn't think so because it isn't anything like her 1st one.

Do you ladies think it could be the beginning of labour?

It could most definitely be labour, from the sounds of things. Of course, it may peter out to nothing, but given her circumstances I would suggest she go back to the hospital.

FWIW, I went into labour at 35 weeks, after my waters broke. But I had been beyond irritable all day, with lower back pain (posterior baby), I just wasn't looking for any signs, because I wasn't due yet. I was actually at my baby shower for most of the day, and everyone realised that I wasn't 'myself' but no one thought I would go into labour, because it was just too early.

I am very puzzled. If she was at the hospitals and they confirmed she is contracting & it's so dangerous why did they send her home?

She is the only one who can make this decision - but it does sound like she could be in labour. I hope she has a beautiful birth...

They sent her home because she said she didn't feel the contractions but neglected to tell them about the back pain which has been getting worse all afternoon.

Apparenlty she has a tilted pelvis, I have no idea what htat means (i am pretty dumb in that dept) her 1st baby was wedged and she had an emergency ceaserian. They won't allow her to try for a natural birth ths time. She's also had so many other problems during this pregnancy.

I didn't feel my contractions til about an hour prior to pushing but the machine was saying they were strong.

That was like me too Charlottesmum - my waters broke and we went into hospital, they put me on monitors and i was definitely having contractions but I couldn't feel them for quite a few more hours.
It sounds like she could be in labour, so if she is that high risk I would be heading back to the hospital.

Both my labours were in my back. The pain is pretty unbareable. So, yes if the pain is quite bad she could be in labour.
