    Belly button rings

Hi there... I know generally speaking you are meant to remove your belly button ring when you develop a bump. If I have to I'm more than happy to take it out, but I did that a few years back and the hole never went away, so I ended up getting it re-pierced because I thought that looked better than just the hole sitting above it.

Anyway, I have come across these maternity belly button rings which are made of a flexible plastic type material which are supposedly safe to wear all the way through your pregnancy. They're quite a bit longer than your standard one so there is room to grow and because they are flexible they aren't meant to cause any tearing etc.

Just wondering if anyone else has used one of these before and how you found it... Also, what happened to it when your belly button popped?

You can leave your belly button ring in all the way through if it suits you and is comfortable. Personally I had to take mine out when I was pg with Oskar at around 5/6 months cos it was rubbing and started to get a bit infected on and off and was getting quite uncomfortable. I never put it back in and being pg again now will consider it (prob have to re-pierce) after this bub is born etc.

i left mine in with dd, and to be honest, i forget that i still have it pierced!... lol

i have a very.. umm whats the word.. un-deep (LOL) piercing, its like 3mm worth of skin, so i just had a sleeper in it. i dont know how its managed to grow out so much, then stop where it is! i have a regular ear stud in it all the time, ill put a sleeper in once i start to expand

ETA: once my belly button has gone completely flat.. it looked like a surface piercing with a sleeper in it!

I haven't worn my belly ring in about 7 or so years and my piercing is still open... mmm flexible belly rings... when I have a bump to show off it might look nicer than just the hole he he he

I took mine out a couple of weeks ago as it started getting caught on my clothing and my belly button had popped. I was going to get those flexi bars off ebay but then I thought I'd just thread my belly bar through the hole every few days to keep it open and it's been working fine for me No need to spend extra money!

    Hi Miss excited,

My midwife showed me one of those flexi bars, she actually kept one on hand to show people because she was asked about it so often!

Unfortunatley, that was after I had already taken mine out because I thought I had to!

I'd had it for 10 years too Don't take it out unless you must!!
