crystallized placenta?

My SIL is due to have her third child on Monday.
She has to go to the hospital Monday morning to have a checkup with her OB, because she has a crystallized/calcified placenta???

Hi Jess - I've no idea! I have heard that the placenta can start to break down towards the end, and that's one of the reasons they don't like us to go too far overdue, perhaps it's something similar to that? I hope everything goes well for her
