I can't tell you all how glad I am to have found this thread tonight, I actually read it from the beginning in 2004 up until the last post. Now I suppose it's my turn to share.

I gave birth to a healthy girl in February 2008 and had no complications whatsoever during the whole pregnancy. I am 9wk 4days pregnant with my second child and today I started fearing for my new little one. I was on a playdate chatting with my girlfriend and mid-sentence I stopped and headed for the bathroom, as I felt something damp on my panties. When I wiped I found blood, like a normal (non-heavy) period. I soon after started cramping. I called my OB and they had me come in for the HCG & blood type tests, but didn't want to see me until my normally scheduled appointment tomorrow (now today Thursday) at 4pm.

The bleeding started at 1pm and has slowly increased, as have the cramps. I laid in bed and cried myself to sleep (earlier tonight) while my husband watch our daughter, as I could hardly drag myself out of bed. I of coarse had a horrible dream about losing the baby. Sadly, I have been dreaming that there is no baby in my belly for weeks now, though I feel very pregnant still.

This is so frightening and sickening. I feel like I'm in a nightmare that I can't wake up from. I don't want to loose my little 'peanut', but I know if it happens then it's meant to be. I don't know how I'll make it to 4pm tomorrow. I guess right now I'm just searching for support from women who are/have experienced this sort of thing.

Hi girls, I used to post in here but have'nt been on for a while, i should make more of an effort as I know there are lots of girls looking for support at a very difficult time in their lives. I guess it is a waiting game, the best you can do is rest and put your feet up as muc as possible, you can only hope you get caring medical professionals unfortunatly there are a lot out there who just look at it as a natural progression to a pregnancy that is'nt meant to be... but... I am living testimony to that not being factual.

I have 4 children all have been complicated pregancies involving lots of bleeding, my first daughter i had no idea what was happening and was told that it was "normal" to have bleeding in pregnancy, so I plodded along with bleeding throughout the first trimester and into the early part of the second then again around 30 weeks she was born well overdue but in a poor cond due to the placenta not working correctly, luckily it was'nt an ongoing problem and she is fine now..

I then had 3 MC's 12 weeks no bleeding? 8 weeks? slight bleeding when I went for my early US it showed i had already passed the babyand again at 12 weeks blledding from day dot my 12 week Us showed the baby had died...

I desperatly wanted to get pregnanat again and waited the required time frame??? I got pregnant the the month after we started trying, again complicated i was given a 50/50 chance of making it to term, there is'nt really any answers, just take it easy, no sex etc. My bleeding stopped early into the second trim and I had no further problems physically.... menatlly a whole different situation!!!! It robbs you of the innocenace of pregnancy , I am always shocked when people talk about excerise, horse riding ski-ing netball etc during pregnancy:doh:I went on to give birth to a healthy baby boy, his placenta was extremly calcified and had extra lobes growing off it everywhere an interesting specimen for the student docs on rotation??

When he was 6 months old I fell pregnant again, not really the plan, shocking to start with but did'nt take long to realise how much i wanted this baby especially when the bleeding started, this time I was terrified and wanted to be monitered closely again the medical staff were not overally helpful, I had an early scan that showed a HB and also a large bleed, brown blood continued with the odd bright bleed, but I felt okay.. 12 week US came DH could'nt make it, so I took a close friend the lady who did the scan was very quiet... I was so scared that the baby had died, I kept pressing for answers in the end she told me the baby was alive but it did'nt look good, to expect to go home and MC, the tear was huge, my friend was so shocked to this day she talks about it, I went home to bed rest at 14 weeks I was back at hospital with bad cramping and early labour type pains, i stayed in hospital overnight but nothing else could be done, i was sent home on bed rest, my next scan was at 17 weeks, I was so sure that I would lose the baby, i just kept expecting to hear there was no HB but...there was and at bleed had nearly healed itself, by 21 weeks it was completely healed, my doc told me there was a possiblity of going into early labour and our goal was to make it to 28 weeks, in the end we went 10 days over and I gave birth to a healthy nearly 10 pound baby girl. Placenta had a whole side extra grown on to it, I had a large bleed myself cause it came away in a hurry...

Another 3 early MCs visits with visit in between to different professionals to see if there might be a solution to our problem, all the usual ??? have I used drugs..etc fianlly I found someone who i thought had an answer, my cycle was short 21-24 days he thought that it was too short for the baby to properly attatch and thats why I lost some and others in longer cycles? stayd but with problems... sounded likely, so we started on IVF type meds to lenghten my cycle out 28 days... perfect, fell BFP I truelly expected no bleeding and was shocked when it happended, I could not imagine how i was going to be able to hang on to this baby whne bleeding started so early and I was on progesterone pessaries to help maintain the pregnancy. I was on bed rest from about 8 weeks to 14 weeks, it's hell... I kept thinking please, if I'm goin gto lose this baby let it be over with, I can't stand this... I missed the other kids and doing things with them, I hated bed, movies, tv, magazines, my back ached I was nasty,. stressed and angry, bleeding slowed after 14 weeks then stopped around 20 weeks but still I could'nt relax, even the magic 28 week mark came and went without relief, I think I started to feel like we were going to get a live baby mid 30 weeks, even then I dared not become to complacent or think to hard about it JIC. Another beautiful baby girl was born Sept last year... all well, I am very clucky now and would love to have another baby...but it can't happen... each time the problem has become worse requiring more rest and mentaly so stressfull, so I am making the most of my babies especially my last bubs, co sleeping, baby weariing etc I am quite envious of people who have these amazing easy pregnancies and wish i could have had the innocence of it all... but... some of us have to do the hard yards and I think I have become a more compassionate person because of it . Well I hope so anyway!!!!:D

Have had 3 normal pregnancies, 3 live babies. Only took one time having sex each time and boom... pregnant (poor other half ;) he he! ) Each time i knew I was pregnant at around 4 weeks before any tests as i had definable symptoms. Had slight bleed at 11wks with no.2, just spotting really, all was ok and was told no more hiking with heavy loads ie: toddler and no more heavy lifting. A week and a half ago again came up with all the signs of pregnancy. Didn't do a test as was in denial and in small town didnt want the whole world to know when purchased test. But signs there thick and strong. Woke up this morning with heavy bright red bleeding... and period pain.. hmm maybe no. 4 wasnt meant to be.. partner has had snip as we are too fertile.. and maybe he wants more regular sex. More than the once a year for a baby anyway! Will see how it goes..:crossfingers:

Im glad i found this forum, it helped me a lot knowing i wasnt alone. i want to share my story.
I Lost my angel this feb 23wks+5days.
It all started when i started bleeding at 15 week. It was nothing major just some spots, i went to the emergency room, and they did all the usual tests and the doctors told me that i was just bleeding from my cervix. I was in hospital for a week, so the docotors could monitor me and after a week was sent home as the bleeding stopped.
a month later, i started bleeding again, only lasted a day, and the doctors again told me i was just bleeding from the cervix.
at 23 weeks, i started bleeding quiet heavily. unfortuanltey for me, my old doc has tranferred to another hospital and i was left with a new doctor, who just started at the hospital that day. they sent me home, after a check up, saying the baby's heartbeat is all good etc. i was bleeding more heavily and contionusly but i was so sick of the doct telling me that it was just my cervix and the baby was fine, i didnt go to the hospital again, after about a week of bleeding, one night i started getting some pains lower back, nothing on the tummy, the next day i went to my GP and he said its just muscle pains with everything strectcing, that night the pain got bad , for some reason i think i went to sleep and i woke up and went to the toilet, and i could see the umbelical cord. We went straight to the emergency room, and that was it, i could feel the baby kicking just an hour before, my water has broke but i didnt even notice from all the bleeding. It was heart breaking as he was so perfect and nothing looked wrong with him.
After all the test and post portem, they found out that the blood was coming from behind the placenta, to this day they dont know why, i also had an infection, i didnt get much answers from the doctors. all they said was next time they would monitor me closely. i just know when i decide to try again, ill be so scared. This forum has helped me a lot , just to know that other people go through smiliar stories. so thank you to all

i think the length of bleeding/spotting during pregnancy is a very individual thing hun.
Also i think it depends if you have had a positive pregnancy test?

Hello, I am very new here, in fact I found this thread & site on Sunday afternoon. I know that there has been no new replies here for awhile, but anyway I just needed to share my story so I can move forward. I have a lovely 8yr son who was a miracle baby in the sense he died during his birth. I was very traumatised by the birth & didn't want to go down that track again, my ex husband couldn't understand why we couldn't just have more and more. But 8 years later, my partner & I really want a child of our own & my son really would like to be a big brother. I am 36. We have been trying for 10 months, my partner had some tests done recently that came back a.ok for him & then we finally found out we were positive 2 weekend's ago. we did 3 tests we couldn't believe it. Then this last Sunday afternoon, I started spotting, very dark brown, so I started to stress & found this site which helped me see that it is normal (good or bad). I rang 13health & they advised me to rest & go to the hospital if anything changes (cramps, change in colour). In the middle of the night I woke up & there was a reasonable amount of redder blood, I tried not to be concerned & went back to bed, knowing I was seeing a DR in the morning. When I woke up,the one thing i noticed was my breasts weren't sore at all. I told my partner & he decided to take the day off work to come to the Dr, which was booked for 9.45am. I started to bleed a lot more & it was bright red, I was starting to really get upset. At about 9.30am at home, I passed a very large clot & I knew....i started crying. We went to the dr & she checked internally, I was so sad & my partner was crying too. I still need to have an ultrasound, to ensure that nothing is left, otherwise I need to go to hospital for a D&C. I had no cramping, we were 6 weeks pg & it was a lot more heavier that my usual flow. But as we know when we are pg, I also knew when I was about to lose bub too. Now I am so concerned as the Dr was giving me the talk...which is the over 35 talk. She said that we need to wait until after the next flow then we can start again, she said if in 6 months we still have had no luck then she will give me a referral to an IVF specialist just to help us out a bit. I have no idea what that means - I am just praying that we can fall again without any assistance. It's been so helpful to read about everyone's experiences on bleeding during pregnancy. It's so scary when it happens because no one really knows what it means, it's just a matter of waiting to see what happens, or testing to see whether it has led to miscarriage or whether the baby is absolutely fine. so many different experiences.

There haven't been many posts on here recently, but I thought I would write what is happening to me, maybe someone will have something to say, or maybe it will just help me to process it!

As with most previous posts, I am giving a lot of gory details! It's the only way!

I am 34, first pregnancy. I am 7.5 wks pregnant. I had the first ultrasound at 6.5 weeks and saw the heartbeat. very happy and excited. On Saturday night, after sex, I went to the toilet about a half hour/one hour after. When I wiped there was bright red blood (I had to wipe twice) although not runny, and I also looked in the toilet bowl where I saw two small clots in pinky-red. I was wondering if that could be the baby I have no idea and felt so ignorant and confused. I also checked the towel I use to wipe myself after sex, and found blood stains on it - bright red.

I was so scared, and didn't know what it meant. I couldn't sleep so I went to Google and read up on bleeding in pregnancy. I found that there is such a thing as post-coital bleeding during pregnancy due to the extra blood vessels on the cervix and increased blood flow. I am so hoping that's all it is, but I'm still so nervous and scared.

Also I'd been feeling nauseous every day for the last two weeks or so, but since the bleed two days ago I have felt better, which also worried me. Am hoping that is just coincidence, but it could mean the pregnancy has ended?

I'm seeing the Dr today to tell her what happened. want to know if the baby is still alive, but also want to keep calm about it and wait to see what happens...

all I can offer is wait till you see your GP, they will hopefully be able to put your mind at rest or let you know what is happening.....can i just say thou, when i miscarried it was a very large clot that filled up the bottom of the toilet (so sorry for being so graphic). So fingers crossed that what you are experiencing is normal & that you & baby are ok!

On a lighter note, AF finally came 29 days after the miscarriage, so this week we begin BD'ing again....I hope it doesn't take 10months again, because I will need to see a IVF dr after 6 months :(

I agree with Alx, try and relax and see what your GP says. He may send you for an ultrasound to see things in detail - which would be great! My experience is similar to Alx, when i had a m/c there were very very large clots.. and sorry for being graphic, it looked like clots with 'extras' iykwim. Things that shouldn't have been there (yes i had a good look) - so i'm hoping yours isn't anything to be too concerned about.

I also had bleeding with this pregnancy, on and off up until 16 weeks, and it was similar to what you're describing. I ended up stopping DTD in the first 12 weeks, just to be sure. And i'm due to have bub in 3 weeks! ;) Hope you have a story like mine xxxx

I had a vaginal ultrasound on Wed at 6.1 weeks preg, saw the heart beat and everything looked great!

friday night went to the loo and noticed lots of brownish red bleeding and started bawling, no pain or cramps. Phoned the hospital and they said the fact they heard a heartbeat meant a good sign and no pain.

24 hours later still bleeding a bit brown/red when wiping. Going to phone ob on Monday

I'm wondering whether the vaginal ultrasound caused disruption?? I'm so scared of it all going wrong :(

I thought I should post in here given the title of the Thread. It's really just a record of my experience, not meant as a reflection of anyone else's experience or anything.

I had some minor light-brown spotting at 9dpo, and thought the cycle had failed. I had no more spotting that week, did a HPT at 12dpo and it was positive. Blood test at 14dpo confirmed pregnancy.

I then had some more tiny, light-brown spotting at 18dpo, and totally freaked out. It was awful. I had a repeat blood-test, which confirmed that my hCG was doubling nicely.

I then had some more, occasional light-brown spotting every few days. I had a dating scan at 6w3days, which was a vaginal scan. That night I had a very small amount of red blood. No cramps, but again it was very upsetting and distressing.

I had a repeat (external) ultrasound two days later and the heartbeat was strong and everything looked fine.

I've since had a little bit of the light-brown spotting, which ended about 2 weeks ago - I'm now almost 10wks pregnant. I'm hanging out for the 12 week scan, but everything is looking okay.

Fyi, I had two embryos transferred for this cycle, obviously through IVF. I've read there is more reports of spotting from IVF pregnancies, something to do with the embryo/s being implanted lower in the uterus.

Also, despite us having two embryos transferred, there is only one heartbeat. There is, I suppose, some evidence that perhaps my spotting is/was related to the other embryo 'dying,' but nobody can say for sure.

Oh, and the bright red blood I had, I think that was related to the vaginal scan I had that day. The uterus is "vascular," which means it is related to blood vessels - so any bumps, interference, lots of movement, etc, can often be blamed for bleeding during pregnancy. It doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong, it's just the uterus doing what it does. Oh, and given that I'd had a vaginal ultrasound, which isn't technically much different to having sex, it was not unsurprising that I had some bleeding. I've heard of other women bleeding after sex during their pregnancies.

I haven't had any spotting in over two weeks. I've had acupuncture which I think may have helped.

None of the above increases or decreases my chances of miscarriage. It has however left me with severe anxiety, which has been made more difficult because I have antenatal depression (a result of a long IVF journey). I have however found that googling "bleeding in pregnancy" and "miscarriage" DOES NOT HELP ME because the chances are, the stories are negative. No google search will tell me whether I am miscarrying.

I hope everyone reading this thread is doing okay - bleeding during pregnancy, even with a known and "normal" cause does not make it any less upsetting. I have for everyone and hope you all have happy and healthy pregnancies.

I need some advice here,

Af is regular, 17th everymonth and this month on the 7th I had some brown bloodbout the size of a ten cent peice, just once. Possible implantation? So i went to the doctors (yesterday) to inquire what it was because it is the first time it has every happened and with all other symptoms like very sore bbs Doc seemed pretty convinced I've conceived so He booked me in for a BT a week from now. But today (two days before AF is due), Straight after we DTD it hurt a little and straight after I had similiar AF cramps and about two hours later there was blood, its not heavy, its just red and watery. doesnt look like normal AF blood but certainly FEELS like it. cramps and bloating.
Could it be AF playing tricks and bleeding on the 7th was just spotaneous? or could it be breakthrough bleeding? damage to cervix during sex??

im 6 weeks pg this wednesday, but ive just started bleeding. its not very heavy but its more than i would like to see (sorry for TMI) i also have cramps in my lower abdomin that come and go and can sometimes be quite bad :cry: i cant help but be really scared as much as i try to think positive. i need to go to the doctors and have U/S and all that but im only 19 and its really something i cant afford until pay day. whats do you all think it might be?

cn you go to your local hospital hun? Is it spotting or actual bleeding? I think going to your gp or calling your hospital is the best thing to do. Hugs hun.

I just found this thread when searching for bleeding during pregnancy. I am 9 wks pregnant. This is my 3rd pregnancy. My 2nd one I had MC when I was 18 weeks. I have a 3 year old.

I have been having little bit of bleeding (streaking and when wiping)from the day I found I was pregnant (4 weeks). when I was 6 weeks saw more blood than normal. After my MC I was advised to take low dosage asprin to prevent clots and increase blood flow. And also I am taking the Progestrone pesaries.

My spotting stopped totally for 4 or 5 days end of last week. Suddenly on Monday morning I started to bleed. It was like period bleeding. I did not have any pain or cramping. I was scared, cause the blood was dripping when I went to toilet I kept a pad and it was totally damp in blood. I soon went to see my OB he did an ultrasound and showed us the baby. There was good heart beat and the baby even moved a little. He said he couldn't see the cause of the bleeding and there is no clots visible in the scan.

I still have the bleeding but its not like dripping, the blood is dark red and I see it when I wipe it .

Did any of you experience something like this. I have been reading about this and trying to be positive. I have read that 50% of women who had bleeding do have a healthy baby. Keeping my fingers crossed hoping I am in that 50%. :pray:

I am in a similar position, I have had bleeding on and off through this pregnancy and it is unexplained. They can't see anything on scans and my Ob keeps explaining to me that if they saw blood on the scan then we would expect me to bleed until that blood comes out but since they see nothing - I shouldn't bleed anymore. BUT THEN I DO! It is the most upsetting and frustrating thing. I am supposed to be 14W1D as per my Ob dates today and have woken up to a WARNING TMI - toilet bowl full of red blood. Since it's not the first time, I am not feeling that shocked, just scared and sad. I am calling the Ob at 8:30 to try and get an appt but I feel stupid because I was just there on Friday and everything was fine. We told my family on Saturday night and my sister was quite upset which in turn made me upset and then yesterday I did have a fairly busyish day but I can't understand why I would have bleeding. I know that bleeding in pregnancy can occur and lots of women go on to have a healthy and happy baby but I am struggling with the day to day checking and waiting and hoping.

I have my first appointment with my ob tomorrow. I'd always thought that you weren't supposed to bleed during pregnancy but it seems that people on this thread, and my own body, are contradicting this line of thought. I'm glad I found this thread as it eases my mind somewhat.

It's been 31 days since conception and there's been intermittent but persistent spotting, mainly the brownish streaking stuff. You try not to think bad thoughts but you just can't stop them from creeping in.

I've also been having a lot of pain in my lower region. I know I have an adhesion from my appendectomy which is tearing and retearing and it hurts like anything. I've had other ops through my stomach also and I'm wondering if the internal scar tissue could be contributing to not only the pain as my uterus expands but also to some of the spotting?

My lovely husband also managed to give me what was for him a simple cold. Unfortunately it's had me bedridden for a week. The coughing and blowing my nose seems to have increased the spotting. Any sort of strain seems to do that.

Has anyone else had experiences like this? This is my first pregnancy and I know I'm being overly paranoid but I can't help it! :wall:

This is my first time to post in this BB. Just wanted to share my experience with regard to bleeding in pregnancy.

This is our first pregnancy and we are really excited about it.

I'm currently on my 6th week (as per our GP) and yesterday I experienced some spotting (sorry if TMI follows), it was light during the morning and became heavier during the afternoons to the point that I was actually having some blood clots when I pee, at that point I was crying and we were really distraught that we have m/c'd.

My hubby then called our GP and we found out that their office was closed since today is a public holiday, we had no choice but to call our OB (which we are supposed to meet by next week) and asked for any advice. She advised us that we have to monitor the bleeding and expect the worse. We just prayed and then we decided that it's best if we go to the hospital and have it checked just to have peace of mind.

They performed a couple of tests on me including Ultrasound since I haven't been into one yet. The doctor told us that the cervix was closed and there were a little blood on the vaginal canal but nothing to greatly be worried about. As with the sonographer he was afraid to tell me that he can't find anything in my womb (which was at that point we have already accepted whatever the outcome of the results are.). I was discharged and told to monitor since the doctor told us that we might just be in a very early stage of pregnancy (since there bHCG was very low .. about 55) or either we have m/c'd.

Today, I'm still having some bleeding and I just noticed that the sore on my breasts are no longer there. We'll still hoping for the best by tomorrow's checkup but we are prepared for the worse.

Cielo, Hugs hun. I hope things work out for you guys. I just want to say i bled at 6 weeks and am now 39 weeks along! Also preg symptoms do come and go so please do not take breast tenderness going as a sign.

Hey guys, i'm new to this..

Im apprently pregnant with baby number 2... I say apparently because a blood test came back positive, urine test negative. I was due for my period 5 days ago and started bleeding this morning so i really don't know what's going on. It feels like period pain and quite heavy but no clots or anything. I'd only b about 5 weeks pregnant. Called my doc but he wont b in till 2.30pm.. so i'm really worried and don't know what's goin on. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi, wasn't sure if people are still following this but I have only found it this morning. I'm stuck at home (bed rest) cause every time I move I bleed.
My story started at 3+ weeks when we tested positive just before the missed period was due. It is a much wanted child we had been trying for. Everything was textbook perfect until w8 d0 when overnight there was a very big bleed (new mattress required). Raced to ER and told we had m/c and that hopefully we will be pg again in a couple of weeks. Decided more info was needed so we paid for a u/s next day. Bub appears fine. Happened again at w10 d3, so different hospital this time and u/s showed all okay again. At w11 d1 it started again but this time it happens every time I get out of bed and has been happening for a week. There appears to be no explanation and another ultrasound at w11 d6 still showed a growing baby.
I find being isolated at home difficult, and the financial burden of not working very stressful. It is also hard when all the well meaning friends and family ask how things are and then proceed to tell you how wrong and selfish you have been when you insist on getting out of bed to use the bathroom or get a drink. I've even been accused of trying to m/c. Anyway just needed to vent my frustration about it all. Thanks for listening.

Hi sorry not a good news story. I wish it was.

Had the tiniest amount of spotting (and brown colour) yesterday so went to emergency as recommended, to get my Anti D shot as I am O Neg. After 6 hours (was a busy night) and three U/S I finally got told there was no heartbeat to be found and the baby looked small for 18 weeks and wasn't moving. I heard his/her heartbeat only two weeks ago so he/she has died in the last 2 weeks.

I am waiting on the call to go in for formal U/S this morning and then probably D&C :-(

Is my first. I don't even get to try again till 2011 as got things going on.

Hoping you have better news. I am little jealous but happy for those who have it all turn out okay. It seems so unfair I tried to do everything right and was so looking forward to baby.

Ok so here is my story my 1st preg went perfect no issues or bleeding ( besides pupps) a preg rash. So in Nov 09 I had a MC no symtoms except a weird left side pain.Close to my hip bone very sore to touch and sometimes sharp pain just in the left side i was worried about it being a tube preg and went to the ER they did blood work and a US the blood work came back fine but kinda on the low side i was about 6 weeks preg at the time. The US in the ER are not very good. They couldnt see a baby or heartbeat only a sac so they booked me for a US at the gyno office at the hospital the next day and more bloodwork. So the next day i went in and had a US done and bloodwork for hormone lvls.The hormone lvls went down from the day at the hospital so they said i had a expecting MC and about a week later I had very bad bleeding ( no cramps or pain ). So i went to the hospital and they did another US and had a full MC so they sent me home.

Now I found out im preg again feb 2. Three days later after i found out i started having the same pain on the left hand side very tender and sharp pain. So i booked a apt with a Gyno and go in at this time i would ahve been around 5 weeks preg. She did a US and couldnt see anything anywhere and told me it might be to early or the preg might be somewhere else and if the pain got worse to go to the hospital. So a couple days after that one night i was laying in bed and the pain gt s bad i couldnt sleep so i went to the ER. They did a pelvic exam and blood test. The blood test showed my hormone lvl being rle high so they went ahead and did a bedside US. The US showed a baby and a heart beat this time. They told me everything looked fine and to go home. They next day when i woke up i was bleeding Just a lil on the TP i bearly noticed just a light pink. Later that day it became a dark red but still very light spots. So I called the hospital and they booked me with a gyno office for a better US. I went in and they did 2 US the abys was doing fine and the heartbeat was fine. And i started geting sick on my tummy so i figured my hormone lvls were stll going strong. And since i started bleeding the left side pain has stoped. The same pain i had with the MC and this one.stll bleeding a lil brown spoting now.( they said they sawblood next to the sac where they assume im bleeding from ) No one can tell me why iv had this pain on the left side that is so bad. And iv not heard anyone else having this. If anyone has any ideas? Or similer experince?

I have been reading through all your threads and i'm happy to find out that there still can be positives to bleeding in pregnancy. I would like to share my story too...

I've been trying for two years to fall pregnant, at the start had a very early chemical pregnancy and have nothing since so hence my fearfullness of bleeding during pregnancy.

Now I started bleeding when AF was due, so didn't think anything of it. It stopped about two days later, still didn't think anything of it. Started bleeding again 3 days later, for some reason decided to do a hpt (no symptoms or anything) and got a bfp to my surprise. I'm now about 6 and a half weeks, still bleeding (dark brown, occassionly some red streaks and very small bits/clots, sorry tmi), still getting bfps and still don't really have any symptoms. I have an appointment with my ob in 1 and half weeks...i'm hoping that everthing will be alright, however given my past experiences am not too positive.

Will let you know how I go, and good luck to others who are experiencing similar problems.

I had sex this afternoon and when I went to the toilet after, there was some pale pink on the toilet paper. I know that this is completely normal because of increased blood flow in the vagina etc

However.. about half an hour later I went and checked again, and the bleeding had become red and with a few small clots.

I immediately freaked out of course. I rang the midwives at the labour ward after hours number, and she said to just lie down and rest and if I get bad cramping or it gets heavy to phone back.

I laid down and slept for about 2 hours, and when I woke up there was still a bit dripping into the toilet, but when I wiped it was only kinda pale again, like it was watered down. And there's no extra on the pad, so it's not like it's flowing.


I know that almost half of all women experience bleeding during early pregnancy and it's all fine, but still - I'm not feeling great about it all.


Did anyone else have similar? I was fine with the pale pink on the toilet paper, but once I saw the clots and heavier blood I freaked.

This forum is brilliant as i have not been able to find much on anything else so thanks to who ever set it up.

Here is my story, would really appreciate some input.

Ovulated between 24th and 29th march, had sex on the 24th and 26th or 27th (withdrawel, yes i know), have been having lots and lots of symptoms since. The main one being my boobs have gone up a whole cupsize! Lots of veins under my arms which i think are veery noticeable, lots of twinges down there, been alot hotter, broke out in spots on back and face, this is all very typical of me before my af however this all happened like 2 weekish before af was due!

have done 3 pregnancy tests, one way before af, and the other day before af was due, both negative.

day before period had some creamy beige cm (sorry) just a spot in my knickers and that was it, then on day of my period i had light brown cm in the morning and that was it, nothing in the evening, i am never late for my period ever. Then today i had the brown stuff again this morning and then later on started getting red browny blood, it is still coming however I have no cramping what soever just a hot feeling down there.

I always always have cramps on the day of my period. I still feel not right and as i said i have never been late as far as i can remember.

Anyone had a similar experience or can give advice? I know it may just be a period but its all to odd!

Hi Ladies, I have been trying to conceive through IVF for over a year. Finally this monday I found out I was pregnant. However, on Thursday night I got bleeding - red blood - and some more brown blood the next morning. I saw my FS first thing Friday morning and the good news is I'm pregnant with twins which look advanced but I had a blood vessel burst and there's a large blood clot in the uterus. So I've been told complete bed rest for a week and to come back in for a scan in a week's time.

I am worried out of my head. The bleeding has slowed down but this morning I got some brown clotting. I am 5 weeks pregnant. Has anyone else had this happen and everything worked out okay?

Ive just gotten back from the hospital after a few hours of heaving bright red bleeding, the doctor at the hospital told me I have had aThreatened Miscarriage, and that there was nothing she could do for me. Ive been given orders for strict bedrest and panadol for the horrid cramping.

Am I going to lose my baby? I am only 11w 5d, but I am very attached.

It's been a while since someone posted on this forum, but wanted to share my story and see if anyone has any advise.

Last Wednesday I discovered I was pregnant. On Friday morning I went to the toilet, wiped and noticed I had bright red blood (only enough for one swiped) on the tissue with a tiny clot. That night I went to A&E and they did some tests and I'm heading back on Monday for more tests to see if my HCG levels have risen. Ahhh, the stress! Since Friday I haven't bled, however I have had a dull ache below and this morning (Sunday) I had a few cramps (my period would have been due today). What complicates the matter is that I had a lump removed from my bladder two weeks earlier which has taken me a while to get over (it forunatley was begnine.) I wonder whether this is causing a few issues and I'm having trouble distinguishing between bladder and pelvic pain. Still doesn't explain why I had bright red blood on Friday.

My breasts are no longer sore which makes me think I have miscarriaged - but I haven't bled since Friday. Anyone had similar symptons?

UPDATE (12/07/2010) - I went back to the hospital today for my more tests and my results were:

12DP0 - HCG 156 / Progesterone 119
15DP0 - HCG 667

Quite an increase and high numbers for so early in the pregnancy! We are back to hospital on Friday for a scan so fingers crossed, but I think it is looking positive and now I'm starting to think with those figures I am having twins! My dad was a twin, so who knows!!

UPDATE (16/07/2010) - I had a scan today. I'm 4 weeks, 4 days and the nurse said that development was excellent. There is hope with bleeding : )

I am 12 weeks and three days pregnant and yesterday evening i had some bleeding! It was such a shock, it wasn't very much but it was a bit more than 'spottiong' and blood is blood, you know!? so I was pretty shocked! I called that 1800 number for health advice and they asked me a few questions and said I need to go see a doctor within the next 4 hours. No other options but to go to the emergency department unfortunately! VERY long wait, and I was scared that I was losing my baby because I have never experienced any bleeding before and I didn't know how common it was either (until I read about it on here tonight!) But i stayed calm under the circumstances.... So, LONG wait in crowded public hospital with my partner, they took blood to measure hormone levels, and eventually did an internal examination. The bleeding had stopped by then and she told me she couldn't see any reason for the bleed (cervix closed and as it should be). Then I had an ultrasound and I could have kissed that gynecologist because she was the ONLY person in the whole hospital that night who was friendly and gave me a smile! Then when we saw the baby on the screen moving around with a normal heartbeat, THE RELIEF of that was like when you are busting for a wee and then you go (but times that relief by a hundred!)...

They couldn't give me a reason for the bleed. They said its not uncommon for women to get polyps or 'ectopies' on the cervix during pregnancy because of the hormones and sometimes they can bleed. So I guess i will never know, I just hope it doesn't happen again! They said if it does happen, if its just a little bit, not to worry, but of its like a period or more that I should come in.

Everyones got different circumstances though so I'd say everyone should get medical advice about their bleeding. 1800 022 222 is the 'health direct' number and thats 24 hours and I keep that number handy for any health advice, they are pretty good.

GOOD LUCK and I think every pregnant woman should know that 30% of women have bleeding during pregnancy and it does not ALWAYS mean miscarriage.. I would have loved to have known that last night.

ok well i am around 8 weeks pregnant ! i have had many(16) pryor misscarrages and 3 beautiful babys all and all this is my 20th pregnancy and scared to death! i have been bleeding really heavy for a little over a week now blood clots and all went to er when it first started and they put me on bed rest til i could get into a obgyn baby was good had a heart beat of 165 and was fluttering around just fine ! i've never blead this long and not lost the baby! he has put me on a supository and told me that the only reason i havent lost the baby was due to that!! ( very grose by the way) cause after i put it in the blood on my hands and cant get up to wash them thank god for baby wipes and hand sanitizer LOL (sry if tmi) ive never been through this with a pregnancy ! the pain can be excruciating ! was in the shower the other night and didnt think i was going to make it out cause i could bearly stand up! had to get my husband to help me out of the shower! kinda feel bad cause my mother n laws been taken care of my other 3 during the week so i can rest as much as possable but how can u rest when you know someone else is doing ur job cause u cant? dont know how to take all this!! my 1st baby was born normal gestation and very healthy my 2nd was born at 27 weeks and weighed 3lbs 1 oz my 3rd was born 8weeks eairly and weighed 5 lbs 4ounces my son is now healthy and has no complications from being so premature but its a day i will never forget at all !! most scariest day of my life!! oh for thouse who are wondering my oldest weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces 20 in long my youngest was 18 in and my son was 15 in if there is anyone who has been through this too HELP!!!:wall: the last obgyn i had told me that the misscarrages was due to a misshaped uturus? (i guess thats how its spelled) which was due to being repetedly raped when i was a kid !:shakehead: so alot of the complcations is due to that! besides other health issues i have! i dont know what to do im in a unknown land and all they tell me is wait! the dr did all kinds of tests but wont get any results til i go back monday!thank you all and god bless!:pray:

This is my first post here and I am so happy to find this thread. It has given me some hope. Here is my story. DH & I experienced our 1st m/c in December 2010. It was a missed m/c & I actually didn't start bleeding until 2 weeks after I had lost the bean. I started bleeding on Dec. 11th, started as spotting and then proceeded to get heavy, with clots and cramps. I knew it was over. This lasted for weeks. I nearly had to have a D&C, but luckily when the doctor was checking me he saw "the fetus" and removed it. That was Dec. 29th.

Now, DH & I were not TTC, we had intended to take a break until February or March and start trying then. I had an u/s scheduled for Jan. 27th to make sure everything was okay from the previous m/c, so I decided that I would test to check. I had a good first response test. Well, sure enough I had a faint line, faint but it was there. I went to the u/s, came home and went to bed. The next morning I was going to test again for a darker line, but I had started spotting. That led me to believe that my period was coming and that the faint line was actually just left over HCg from my previous m/c.

I bled for 3 days, 2 days medium & 1 light. No clots, no cramps. Then I continued on with charting. I found a cheapie test and decided to take it (this was 9 days after the bleeding) and it was positive. I didn't know what to think. So I went and bought a first response test and the second line was SUPER dark!! I have been spotting on and off for 2 days, and it is only brownish colored and only when I wipe.

I do not know what to think. I am not cramping and I still feel pregnant, sore boobs and all! I am not cramping or bleeding any heavier, just the brownish color on the toilet paper when I wipe and it is not everytime. I just don't know why I would bleed for 3 days at the time when my period was to be due.

Hi ladies,

God I hope someone can help me out! I am 9 weeks pg and have heard the heartbeat of bub at week 6 which was good but randomly tonight I went to the bathroom and discovered on wiping pink bleeding. I know this is common but this isn'i the only concern it feels like my period is coming with slight cramping.

I smelt it and has an iron smell. I had sex with hubby on Sunday and exercised this afternoon, could this be the reason? Please help. I just want to bawl and not sure if I should had to the emergency room.
