We are in the process of trying to decide what color to paint the nursery. We both love a really subtle blue, but we're not sure it will be appropriate for a girl (.....we don't know what we're having).
I always had blue walls growing up, as I got older I re-painted them a bit darker and got plum coloured curtains which worked with some funky pictures on the walls.
Maybe go the blue paint but hold off on artwork or prints until the baby is born, then you can add fairies/princess ones for a girl or cars/trucks for a boy?
blue and purple can both have that effect, but so can a dusty pink. my mum has rose pink curtains and both my boys sleep better at her house during the day than they do here, as the sun shines through them and tints the light.
The most stunning little girls' room I have ever seen was blue.
Blue walls, then lots of blue-accented pieces to make it all match. Included a blue cot blanket embroidered with a colourful floral arrangement, and pink edged blue polka dot runner over the chest of drawers etc. It was all soooo pretty. Think Spode china - blue can be so elegant.
I think it's completely fine, if you have a girl you could always find some girly curtains with blue in it, and get a nice girly doonacover, hang a mobile, and put some wall stickers
DD 1 had a totally blue room - lovely soft lavendar sort of blue, with white accents. I think it works really well for girl or boy. Depends on what else you add to the room, really.
Yeah blue's good for a girl BUT beware letting too may people see it or they will make assumptions, and start buying you boy things! All well and good if there is a Y chromosome of course
