I have three moles on my back. Two of them seem larger (as in a bigger lump up from the skin. One of those two I *think* a fair bit bigger than it used to be. This one is at the very bottom of my back and hard to look at, but I managed a glimpse in the mirror before. Yikes. Its never looked like that before (pink), and tender around the edges.
I WILL be going to see the dr asap, because its frightening the bejeezus out of me, just needed some info (hopefully) before then. Thank you muchly!
My only mole changed drastically during pregnancy (it went from brown to black), I had to have it removed and it came back with pre-cancerous cells (melanoma).
I was told pregnancy made it develop quicker.
oh dear now i'm scared too! I am the same as you Netix!
Thanks to my heritage i have heaps of moles (BEAUTY spots lol) and i have gotten new ones in pregnancy and the ones on my stomach are stretching out to all shapes!
Do i just need to see a GP or is this normal??
Let me know how you go with yours. They cant remove during pregnancy can they?
Little O, gotta love that Euro blood don't ya! I'm going to the dr to get mine checked out, I think you should too. Deal? Better to be told "nothing to worry about" than to be left wondering. Not sure if they can be removed during pg, but at least I will have the ball rolling.
haha yes yes you do! i always envy the girls with "clear" skin! Ok deal we shall both get them checked! I had read that you can grow new ones in pregnancy anyways, but like you said better to be safe than sorry!
i had this last pg, and im already starting to see it again. i went to the doc and they were all fine but the doc said coming to get them checked is important even tho pg causes more melatonin (i think) to be produced which can cause skin tags, growth of moles and appearance of new moles so most of the time its not anything to worry about. i had a very cute beauty spot on my tummy that most women on my mums side have and it grew beyond all belief while i was pg so i got it checked and its not cancerous, it just doesnt look very nice anymore!
Yes, they can remove them during pregnancy. My friend had 10cm melanoma removed from her leg under local anaesthetic. Poor thing, but it was better than the alternative.
Hope it all went ok! I looked this same thing up on google (never a good thing) when pregnant as I 'thought' I had the same thing happening. It turns out I had an ugly, black looking skin tag growing on my neck The doc just pulled it right off. I was honestly expecting the worst but was glad I went to get it checked out.
My research did tell me that they can change though, but it's still good to get them checked as it's better to be safe than sorry!
I had one on the size of my nose that you could hardly see and when I was pg with DS1 it grew a fair bit and became raised instead of flat like it was. I did see a dermatologist who said that it can happen sometimes. She cut it off and had it tested but it was fine.
