Just wondering what kind of childbirth classes people attend or recommend?
We're doing the usual one that they do at the hospital where I'll be giving birth and I have done a yoga course (which included a chat about the birth, preparation etc at the end of each class), but I am wondering if I am going into it blindly?
I don't want to spend a fortune doing lots of different classes that may confuse me, and whilst I want to be prepared I think a little bit of ignorance can help you not to freak out.
I would like to approach the birth I think the same as alot of people, try to go as natural as possible but I don't want to be dissapointed if I arrive at the hospital screaming for an epidural because I've no idea what I'm in for.
I hope this makes sense, any advice that people can offer...maybe what classes they did or didn't do, what worked for them etc?
We did the bellybelly class and thought it was brilliant. Presentations by Rhea Dempsey, Pinky McKay and 2 doulas. Unfortunately, we lost bub before we needed them, but I highly recommend independent childbirth education. Hospitals have certain policies and don't want consumer thinking they can demand the best birth for them if it falls outside their policies.
I also recommend seeing The Business of Being Born.
