Conflicting Fundal Height Measurements??

Hi there All

Just wondering if anyone has had conflicting Fundal Height Measurements??

Went to the clinic 2 weeks ago and I was measuring 29cm and the other day went and saw my renal specialist and he measured me as 27cm - so on 1 occasion I was measuring 2 weeks in advance and on the next I was 1 week behind?? - go figure.

I'm assuming that it was because it was a different person measuring but I'm curious to know whether this has happened to anyone else.

Also can the baby's position alter the length at all??

HI Dianna - Fundal height is b y no means an exact science, as you said, 2 different people can get different measurements depending on where they measure from and to. The position of bub can definately influence the measurement too so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I've always measured much bigger - like 2-3 cms bigger with both pregnancies - told oh this one will be a big size and Izzy was 8lB 13oz but she was 11 days late! So you just never know! HtH!

Yep Dianna I too measured differently when different people did it. I found some didn't even measure from the pubic bone (as normal) so got lower measurements. I have always been big too and this baby is no exception : S

Don't worry about it too much. It evens out in the end

some people measure right at the end of the pubic bone some don't...
I am measuring ahead of my size.. but then i have a baby elephant inside :P but NONE of the OBS i have seen have measured from the same spot...
