    Counting Kicks

I know we aren't supposed to count per hour, but across the day... I'm 30 weeks and bub has been rather quiet the past few days. I have a scan tomorrow and bub has been moving very occasionally but nothing like it was a week ago. How any movements are we supposed to feel across the duration of the day?

Hi lee, I think it's 10 kicks/movements in a 2hr period? That's what the app on my phone records it as. Good luck with your scan, maybe baby is just sitting in a funny spot?

    Re: Counting Kicks

Hi Ticktok, I jumped in the shower after I posted and felt bub wriggling really down low. Perhaps has found a super comfy spot & because of the anterior placenta I'm not feeling much else? I hope so. My obstetrician said we are supposed to count movements across the day as a one or two hour period isn't enough as bub could be quite comfortably snoozing away for a good couple of hours :/ I see my ob on Wednesday. Just trying to not concern myself too much but it's not working too well lol!

My OB told me 10 movements a day bc as you say, some times of day they are sleeping/ not moving. GL for scan.

My baby seems really quiet, and i think the anterior placenta has a lot to do with it. It's mainly when feet or hands are moving above or below a certain bit (where i assume the placenta covers) that i get movements. Either that, or i finally have a cruisy baby!

Yeah I'm almost 31 weeks and baby has been quiet this week for me too. I can feel hiccups right now though lol. I think with small children you're not getting enough opportunity to lie down and feel it. Maybe can you set aside an hour to drink something cold and concentrate on the movement?

    Re: Counting Kicks

Most movement I feel is down low, I actually get a surprise if I feel anything up the top of my belly lol. It is hard to not worry when you notice a lack of movement but I try to remind myself that there are some days when I'm less energetic than others so maybe baby is the same?

Honestly, I'd say that if your worried pop into the hospital for some monitoring just to reassure yourself.

Bub was moving so much last night and has been today also... Maybe had a growth spurt? IDK but happy to feel so much energy happening again!
