    Dear Future Mum

Today is World Down Syndrome Day, please take a moment to watch this...

This Ad For World Down Syndrome Day is Making Me Ugly Cry

I had a prenatal diagnosis (high risk at 20 weeks, confirmed by amnio at 30 weeks) and whilst I know it seems like the worst thing possible, one year on, I can tell you that the perceptions about having a baby with Down Syndrome are just not accurate. It really saddens me that over 90% of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome prenatally are aborted. If you or a friend get a high risk result at 12 weeks, please don't just listen to your obstetrician or GP who most likely will have outdated views. Do some research, find parents living with babies and children and young adults with Down syndrome, and see what they think about Down syndrome.

Our little princess with a little extra turned one a fortnight ago. I won't lie, we had health issues for the first 6 months, but typical babies can have health issues. Right now, she is thriving. She has such character. She loves to (try and) blow raspberries on our neck. She cracks up laughing when her drama queen older sister is having a tantrum She is crawling, and wanting to be wherever her older siblings are. She has just started pulling up to stand. If you meet us out and about, she'll take a minute or two to assess you, but then you will be rewarded with the most beautiful smile if you take the time to talk to her.

Life with Charlotte in it is simply awesome and I wouldn't have it any other way.
