Did I just lose my plug?! (TMI warning)

Ok... So I have 6 weeks to go. I just went to the bathroom & when I wiped, I had a ~5cm long, ~1cm wide glob of clear mucus. It looked like a big version of that annoying stringy bit that hangs on to the egg yolk when you're trying to separate eggs. There was no blood in it.

Yesterday I had some BH contractions, but nothing major. They lasted about an hour & a half (took me half an hour to figure out what they were!), and were uncomfortable, but not massively painful (like a cramping muscle). Today, I took it easy but still went to BodyBalance at the gym. Tummy has been fine, and a little tight at times.

What do you think? I'm not in a state of panic (far from), but am curious to know if it will regrow, or if more will fall out. I wouldn't be all that pleased with labouring 6 weeks early.

Maybe the 2.7 magnitude earthquake we just had shook it loose!

I'm not sure if it was your plug TBH but do keep an eye on things. When I lost my plug it was very cloudy and almost yellow and was big and globby - enough to fill a teaspoon or slightly bigger. I think from memory I did get a lot more discharge from about 6 weeks to go and I kept thinking it was my plug.

A plug is generally about that size, you can lose it and not go into labour for a while for some people it can be weeks others only hours, when is your next appointment with the Dr/OB/MW?

Keep an eye on any ctx/BH's and if there is a regularity in them or increasing in intensity perhaps go get checked out.

I know the plug can regenerate, if you lose bits of it, but in one big hit I'm not sure.

Best to be closer to a hospital if there is a risk of Pre Term Labour/Delivery.

Goodluck and hope you ahve a few more weeks to go

Thanks guys. Apart from thursday night, I haven't had any ctx. I was scheduled to go to a gym class this morning, but have decided to sit on the couch instead. I don't want to jiggle the baby loose at the gym!

Next OB appointment isn't until the 10th of may. I'll keep my legs crossed until then.

Good idea on taking the day off from the gym

With DD I was still doing weight training the Thursday before and had her on the Monday after a yoga session, was not at all prepared for her early arrival and had no warning she was coming.

Perhaps give the OB's office a call on Monday just to let them know.
Take care and rest up xxoo

Cheers! I'm making pancakes... not really a gym substitute in the traditional sense - but the pleasure of eating them will probably release the same endorphins!
