Do support belts work for back pain?

My chiro has recommended one, especially as I get bigger, for my lower back pain.

Is it worth it? If you used one, how often did you have to wear it to get relief?

    Cheers

I used one for about a month in the third trimester, it was great to start with but got really uncomfortable and the pain was better after a lot of treatment so I stopped. I used it whem I was doing a lot of walking around.

I had one for my hips and I have to say it was a pain the the butt

It was ok if I wore it and was just walking around, but as soon as I needed to sit it was uncomfortable, I was supposed to wear it to bed, but try and roll our of bed with a preggy belly and your hips strapped together, very tricky!

I had quite a bit of back pain from a car accident and I found the hydrotherapy helped with that a lot and some physio every week or two, would relieve the pain, but I was considering a back support belt, but in the end just put up with the pain

I also have the hip one for well my hips and tailbone. I've had it from like 16 weeks.I can't wear it while i'm sitting, however i do wear it when i'm doing housework, at work (cuz i stand all day) and also when i sleep. I can't do the housework or work without it. it's too painful. It was hard to get used to at first but now i find it much more comfortable and it helps stop pain.

I loved my one - I got it from my physio (it's called a "maternity back support belt" - don't get just a back brace/support - make sure it's "maternity")I have since loaned it to a friend who is having quite bad sciatic pain in her back. I found it very comfortable to wear and helped the discomfort in my back, it didn't ride up or cause any problems, except that it can be a bit hot wearing it in summer months. I wore it mostly in my first pregnancy (winter baby) and had no issues. I will wear it again soon coz my ob said it will also help support my tummy muscles which have started to separate.
