doc's refferal for u/s???

hey,

i was just wondering if you need to have a doctors or midwifes refferal to go and have an ultrasound. I was told i dont need one until 12 weeks and they dont want to give me one any sooner. i was hoping i could have one around 9 weeks. im currently just over 6 weeks.

what do all you girls think??

You normally won't get sent to have one prior to 12 weeks unless you are unsure of dates, or if you have had any problems like spotting etc.....
You do need a referral to get one done so you would need to speak to your GP/OB, and the 12 week one isn't automatic either, so check with your carers first!

hey, thanx for your reply. Yeah i guess there is no reason for me to have a scan any earlier as im 100% sure on my dates. Also i havent had any problems with spotting at all, or any other problems. oh well only 6 weeks to wait to see my little bub
