Does your baby seem to have a musical preference?

So, a couple of my school friends are also pg, we're all due within a few weeks of each other and we have noticed that our babies seem to get active when we play them certain music or artists - in particular Lady Gaga.

My girls seem to also really love to kick around to U2, John Butler Trio, the Strokes and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and tend to get very quiet at any sign of Jack Johnson, The Beatles, or Norah Jones

Have you noticed anything similar? Mine seem to act up for a really good bass line!

My DS always used to kick around whenever Nine Inch Nails Closer was playing.

It's funny, my DS really loved all the stuff I'd subject him to in utero - Coldplay, U2, Pink etc. But now that he's out he is a sucker for more dancy stuff. David Guetta songs make him go nuts he will dance heaps.

This bub doesn't seem to respond much to music so maybe it'll be less of a groove bunny.

DS loved Hendrix and 70s disco in utero. Still does years later. I often joked he was a drummer, his kicks and punches had quite a beat to them. He sat down at a friend's drum kit the other day and they were amazed at his innate drumming skills.

Ignore musical cravings and tastes at your peril!

^ Thats so funny! Perhaps you created a musical prodigy!

I wonder if it has something to do with a certain beat or time signature or something...perhaps I should start documenting these things!

DD loves/loved Disturbed and Five Finger Death Punch. Both are hard rock/metal.

Anything with alot of guts to it. Sometimes a bit of metal is the only way to relax her.

DS loved a mixture... Hilltop Hoods to The Gossip to Black Sabbath to Birds of Tokyo to 80's and everything in between. He use to get really active to Jungle Drum by Emiliana Torrini. I pretty much listen to Triple J (and his Giggle and Hoot CD!), so bub is getting the same

All my kids have been exactly the same in utero and outside, they ALL love music. Especially Ds2.

I can remember when I was pregnant with Ds1 Fall Out Boy's 'This aint a scene' was a huge hit and the radio stations played it religiously for months and months. When he was a newborn, you could guarantee any time the song came on, he would instantly settle and go to sleep lol Must have been a positive memory connection of fun times in Hotel Mama
