Ok, this is probably going to sound dumb, but has anyone fallen pregnant while breastfeeding within 3-4 months after giving birth???
It's not like DP and I have been actively TTC, but we haven't not been trying either, IYKWIM?! Lately I have been experiencing similar symptoms to the other times I have been UTD ... increased CM, insomnia, general fatigue ... and given that bubs is only 3.5 months old, AF hasn't reared her ugly head either ....
I guess the main things are, could it be possible, and how accurate would a HPT be? Would my hormones be still all crazy due to still BF-ing?
I was in the same situation as you not long ago, DD was 4 months old, I was expressing full time, we were DTD, not trying as such but no contraception (sp?) either. I had all of the typical signs of pregnancy and was almost convinced that I was pg, I did 2 HPT and they where both negative, about 7-10 days later AF reared her ugly head, it seemed that it was my body preparing for her return . It was a good thing though as we are now able to actually TTC knowing that I am ovulating.
Sorry back to you... it is possible that you could be pregnant (it has happened to woman before) although it is proberly not likely, I think that the HPT should be acurate if you do test.
Good Luck in getting the result you are hoping for
Yes you definitely could be pg! There is only 11 months between my friend's eldest and middle children, because she thought b/f was a form of contraception!
Seriously, no one knows whether your body will ovulate while b/f or not. Clearly its different for every woman! I'd do an HPT!
My Obs also said that she gets a lot of women who come in for their 6wk check up and they are pg already!!
2 ppl I know have fallen preg when breast feeding!! One fell preg 5 weeks after - yes 5 weeks - after giving birth (Why you would want to have sex then is beyind me!!) and my other friend fell about 6 months after and still hadnt had AF!
You certainly could be!! Have you tried a HPT??

: typo!!
HCG (pregnancy hormone) actually declines during pregnancy, and I am pretty sure I read that there is no trace by 2-4 weeks after the birth. If you tested it'd be accurate. So take a test cos I wanna know! LOL!
MM - know what you mean, a bit paranoid I could be in that boat myself.... but I think I'd be more tired if I was.... I'm not pg..... don't want to go through all that again right now!
Pixie - I tell ya, I'm EXHAUSTED, and the constant insomnia ... hmmm it's making me wonder .... And to think it wasn't all that long ago that I was worrying about Master V sleeping through the night! LOL! (he's back to waking up once again, but it's usually about an hour after I've JUST gotten to sleep )
PMSL@ all you impatient ladies, eager for the preggo goss!!!
TBH, I'm quite happy feigning ignorance right now cause that means I don't have to tell DP LOL! Ignorance is bliss, or so they say!!
PM - you fertile chicky you!! It seems I only have to think about DTD and *bammo!* - UTD! LOL!
As for DTD soon after birth, I tell ya, I couldn't wait to jump back in the saddle so to speak! LOL! It's funny though, DP keeps bringing up things about pregnancy - like Britney Spears little sister being UTD again cause she "didn't know you could get pregnant while bf-ing"!!!
OP - I have heard of using bf-ing as a form of contraception but you have to be REALLY vigilant and literally be feeding every 3-4 hours AROUND THE CLOCK. Well Master V had an op at 7 weeks which required 6 hours of fasting, but he actually had more than that cause the stupid nurse woke me at some ridiculous hour of the morning and told me to give him his last feed before the op (she assumed it was 1st thing in the morning when it wasn't until 1pm!!) But I expressed during the day cause I was literally going to explode!! Besides, he slept right through the night for nearly 2 weeks a while ago (i'm talking 14 hours straight!) and even now, he's at least 8 or 9 hours straight! So yeah, after all my ramblings, bf-ing is not a RELIABLE contraceptive (for me)!!
