TMI - soft cervix....

Hi all, just a quick question, I am nearly 18 weeks and after having some cramping I thought I would feel my cervix (I know, naughty!) and it was soft and high up. I had no idea if this is normal or not so I rang the midwife who suggested I go into emergency. Has anyone else experianced this???

By soft do you mean soft like the tip of your nose or soft like your lips?
