I'm just about 19 weeks along and, I'm just wondering, although there is no "normal", does this sound alarming.....
I'm 177cm tall and pre-pregnancy I weighed 64kgs (I was quite a slim weight for my height).
Anyway, nothing much happened in terms of weight gain for the first 15 weeks or so, mabye a kilo.
Just weighed myself. In the last 4 weeks I've put on 6 kilos- am now 70kgs!
6 kilos at 19 weeks. I walk everyday and do pre-natal yoga.
I also eat very well (no junk, just fresh food etc)
Should I be alarmed?
The only thing I can think of is that as I was quite slim in the first place, my breasts and hips have filled out heaps (by 2 cup sizes from a b to a d!)
I'm not going to an OB and the midwives don't weigh me. Last time I went (at 15 weeks) she said "oh there's not much there yet, is there?" so mabye I've had a growth spurt?
sounds like you have had a growth spurt and it sounds pretty normal to me... as you sound like you are v healthy with exercise and diet i wouldnt worry!!! I think weight gain varies by person, so dont compare yourself too much to what books say or what other say - as long as you are eating well, keeping reasonably active etc it sounds good to me!
I know that we all worry about these things though so you could always ask midwife next time, not to weigh you but just for peace of mind. Thats what I would do.
Has your tummy grown a bit? I imagine the baby would be having some growth spurts too.... which is a great reason to pile on some weight!!
Nicoletta, i put on 6 kg's in the first 10 weeks. (Come to think of it my BBS went from a C to a DD by 8weeks!)
I have a healthy diet, i dont eat junk food, i walk and do yoga. I mentioned to my OB that i was concerned about it and he said "Why are you weighing yourself?!" He told me that i was well within the healthy weight range and that all women vary in their weight gain. He told me not to weigh myself, as long as i had a healthy diet, i didn't have anything to worry about.
I cant help it, i still weigh myself, but it doesnt concern me as much! It is hard dealing with a new figure, and out of control weight gain sometimes, but it is only for a short period i guess! As long as we stay healthy!
hi just thought i would say i put on 11kg in first eight weeks then put on 5kgs every month for 4 months then 3kg every month all up i put on 37kg. charli was 8lb 4oz
Dont worry slip women often put weight on in spurts. You may find that for the rest of your pregnancy your weight will come on in spurts. Its quite normal
I'm so glad you said that! I was 58kg to start with & I put on 6 in the first 8 weeks! Then put on nothing for ages... Then this past week, I've put on 2 kg. I hope it continues in spurts, rather than me just getting massive!
I wouldn't worry at all. Especially as you are quite slim. Sounds like you are eating really healthily, so you won't have to worry about excess weight.
