    Feeling kicks from the outside?

I've been feeling bub kicking for the past 2 weeks but was wondering when my DP will be able to feel it from the outside? He's desperate to be able to feel the kicks too.

My best advice is to spoon him with your belly against his back when you get into bed at night ... with bubba kicking at his tender lower-back .. he might feel it.

And give it some more time .. the bigger you get, the bigger bubba gets, the stronger bubba gets, the harder he kicks, the more likely DH will feel it.

Be careful what you wish for!

It shouldn't be too much longer before DH can feel the kicks. I think it was probably about 3-4 weeks after I started feeling them regularly when DH started feeling them. But it is mostly a matter of luck - having DH around when bub is active and having the time to stop and rest with a hand on your belly to see what happens.

We were desperate for DH to be able to feel Munchkin move... and now I have a Munchkin that keeps me awake and has started kicking so hard he's leaving me feeling bruised and sore. I think it's only going to get worse from here and there's still a while to go!

Do you ever find that when bub is active that you can see your belly move? When that starts to happen you should find that DH will have a pretty good chance of being able to feel the kicks as well.

    Hi LJ

I didn't feel any movement until about 21 weeks and it was only a week later that DP could feel it. Like BW said, it means being in the right place at the right time. It also depends on how strong your little ones kicks are. We found that laying in bed before going to sleep at night was the best time to feel it.

No matter what it wont be long until he can feel it and when he does it will be amazing! Seeing my DP's face light up the first time he felt our bub was something I will never forget

most partners have the "calming" affect to their babies. So most stop kicking when their dad puts the hand on mums tummy. He should be able to feel bub from the outside soon but timing is everything... just be patient. As BW said.. be careful what u wish for, the kicking gets pretty full on!

It varies from pregnancy to pregnancy. It was I think at least a month after I was feeling kicks that my DF could feel them and even then most of the time as soon as he touched me bubs would stop. He could see bub move my whole stomach (later on) more than he could feel it usually.

It should be soon but it's different for everyone. DH has been able to feel it for 1-2 weeks for me and now I can even see it on the outside sometimes if I catch it. But it is hard for DH to catch, like everyone else said, when he puts his hand on my tummy it goes quiet!

My DH is SO keen to feel it but EVERYTIME he puts his hand on my belly the little monkey stops! And I mean eveytime!! It happens also to my mum - bubs can be going NUTS (and im talking an alien on my belly with nits poking here and there) and when ever I allert DH it stops!!!
I guess he will have words with the little one when born! hehehe
    Good luck!

I could feel movement at 16 weeks but it took until 24 weeks for DH to feel it. He just wasn't patient enough to hold his hand there so needed big kicks and lots of them

He actually thought it was more amazing for him when I was asleep one morning (he says I was snoring but I deny it ) and he felt the baby move..he said it really it home that it was someone else not just part of me...that was about 25 weeks

Thanks for all your info, DP still can't feel kicks from the outside, but you're right, whenever I feel a kick and tell DP to feel, the kicking stops!!!!!

Bubs kicks are still soft and I can't see any movement from the outside yet, so I guess DP will have to wait a bit longer.

It's funny cause I'm sure I will be complaining about the kicks soon

It shouldn't be too much longer before ur DH can feel the kicks. I think it was about week 28-30 when we could See DS moving from the outside. It scared the hell out of me the first time as I didn't know it was going to happen. But it is the most amazing thing.

DH should have been able to feel ours from about 23 weeks (when I could see them), but he actually didn't feel a kick until 2 nights before DD was born. Every time he would have his hand, back, or any body part near me, she wouldn't move. As soon as he moved, off she would go... hehehe..
