Hi Possums - DP and I just did the Calmbirth course here Bowral with it's creator Peter Jackson doing the course. It was fantastic! The course went for a weekend. 9.30am til 6pm both days. The days flew by, Peter is a fantastic teacher and we felt that both of us learnt so much from doing the course. We learnt great relaxation techniques and breathing techniques. My DP thought it would be all a bunch of hippies LOL but was so happy with the money we spent on the course. The course is really about the choices the you can make to empower you throughout the labor as well and the relaxation. You also get take-home CD's to practice relaxation and a book with the course notes and other tips. Highly recommend the course. If you have any specific questions please let me know.

hi, i did a hypnobirthing course (i know its slightly different) and i found it AMAZING! The relaxation and breathing techniques they taught me were great and so useful in the birth of my DD. I felt empowered and informed about my birthing options and how to get the birth i wanted.
    Good luck xx

i did a calmbirth course before DD2s arrival. it was AMAZING!

gave both DH and I so many 'ah ha' moments throughout the learning and well, for the birth it was truly superb! you can read my birth story in my sig, but basically it led to the most amazing birth (because it was joyous and happy, rather than scary and busy ITMS). i found that it was able to totally shut off my concious brain and allow my body to revel in the birth and not be incumbered with pain or the like. amazing!

Yes I did the calmbirth course in 2009, can't recommend it highly enough. We did it over a weekend and I liked that format.
I honestly think it helped a lot and made a significant difference to my birthing experience with ds2 as opposed to that with DS1

    Will write more later

We did the calmbirthing course and although we ended up with a c-section it was still money well spent.....using the breathing techniques I was able to get my pulse down from 160ish to 92 in less than a miniute and keep it there for the duration of the birth...this prevented excess blood loss and helped the healing I am sure.....I highly recommend it to anyone

I have done both calmbirthing and hypnobirthing, and overall I would rate the calmbirth course higher. But either course, I can't overstate how helpful they were in my labours and how in control I felt during the births of my children. Fabulous courses.

i did this course at the same time as Pandora - it was a huge help! i'm the first to admit that i'm a rather anxious person, and i NEEDED help with those anxiety issues so that we could get the birthing experience we wanted. Even though I ended up with the cascade of intervention due to other health issues, I was able to stay calm through most of it. As someone prone to anxiety attacks, it was nice to not have one, even though things ended up outside of my control!!

i have also been through a lot of other stuff since the course, and have employed the calmbirth breathing/relaxation techniques to help me control the anxiety levels at those times - it's been invaluable!
