    Gift for New Daddy

    Hi Girls,

I really want to purchase DH a gift to give him when the baby arrives. Something from me and the baby. I'm really aware that most people spoil the baby and/or the mother but rarely the father and don't want him to be excluded. Does anyone have any ideas? He has recently bought a new wallet otherwise I would have given him one with a piccie of bubs in it. I don't have *heaps* to spend on him due to an unexpected bill... The only idea I have at the moment is a nice picture of bubs in a nice frame for his new office but I won't be able to give him that on the day and I really want something I can give him on the day...

    Thanks

    MG

DD once "gave" DH a copy of the story book, "My Dad" by Anthony Browne. It was a favorite that they read together for many years.

Maybe you could buy the frame and make it one of those puta onse then have it engraved if you know what you are going to call bubba
OR it could be a smallish double photo frame with one of you and the other spot free for the little one ... mm yep... i love that idea... might do that myself!!!

I've (and bubs) given DH a little cartoon kind of book called "Great Lies to Tell Small Kids"... not quite the sentimental kind of gift, but DH loves it and it's hillarious! We've spent ages imagining all the porkies we can tell Fruity (poor child)
Depends what kind of gift you're after I suppose...

I recently gave DF a nice little frigde magnet with a sentimental saying on it.... something along the lines of "i know i dont say it but i love you and your the greatest". DF nearly cried when he read it. You could also get the saying on other things like mugs, keyrings etc and they dont cost a fortune.
I think your DH will love any pressie you get him actually.
    Hows the cot going??

I'd maybe get a photo frame with "world's best dad" or "I love my dad" on it & then maybe put bub's first photo in it?

My Girlfriends put a pack together at my Babyshower for my DH. It included panadol, night eye patch, small bottle of wiskey, and ear plugs. He thought it was really funny. If you want to take another direction - How about a massage (giving birth is stressful on Dad as well), a voucher for go-cart racing (my DH would love this), a t-shirt with bubs pic on it or a mug to take to work. I like the book idea as well.

Thanks Girls, keep the ideas coming! I am loving the idea of the tool belt! But any other ideas? Sadly he's not into massages and we have no idea it it's a boy or a girl so I can't get anything engraved. He would KILL me if I gave him a key ring etc LOL... Although I did make a badge for him that says #1 Dad (I just can't remember where I hid it!)... so keep those ideas coming!

Does he have a favourite hobby he wants to share with bubs? Maybe you can get something from bubs to him with something like "When I am big enough daddy can you show/teach me how to..." or "I can't wait to xxxx with you daddy"

Trains Cailin! But he has this thing that he will only take a boy on the trains - it's not a girl thing I keep telling him it doesn't matter! Maybe I can get him tickets for Puffing Billy and we can make that our first family outing...

YES do a puffing billy voucher? OR go there and get a souvenier and say "Daddy when I come out can you take me on the Puffing Billy with you?" What about matching conductor hats?

Brooke - that's a brilliant idea! Where do you get them from? I can use the other box as a gift for friends here too - there are 3 more girls at work who are PG (2 due in April and 1 in March)...

I love that Cailin! You girls are very creative! My brain has been on strike for a few weeks....
