    Question GTT fasting

When they say 'You need to fast'.....what does that mean exactly and for how long before the test?

I have my 2 hour one tomorrow but was told no info other then to fast!

Last time i had to do a high carb diet 3 days before and jump through hoops (well maybe not but there was alot i had to do/not do).

    TIA

generally it is from 2200 hrs the night before test.

    You can however have water.

generally test started about 0800 or 0900 so as u dont go to long without food.

    good luck

I just had mine done yesterday, I asked what they meant by "fast" and they said don't eat anything for 10 hours before your appointment, and drink water ONLY if you absolutely MUST. Seems a cruel and unusual punishment asking a pregnant woman to fast.. lol... just rest and don't do much physical work before the appt and you should be ok to last..and eat a big dinner...

Good luck Kim. Your probably sitting there right now and already have one of the needles over and done with. Only 2 more to go. Hang in there. Make sure you come home and rest your bound to be a little light headed after not eating and having blood taken. Might be a good idea to put a dvd on and try and rest up.
When will you get your results?

    Thanks Puppies and Leasha....

Puppies ill get the results tmrw at my 33 week check up...they have been marked urgent

Dont get me started on the damn test.....i arrive at 10.10am...hand in my form and the lady says 'umm ok take a seat'.....10.45am comes and still no ones called me and Jasmine is acting up and DH is getting frustrated so i ask at the desk how much longer...to be told 'Oh no one has booked you in since you arrived'...GRRRR

So at 11am they finally call me, do blood and get my drink.....then at 12 there is a student vampire...who has no idea what she is doing...hurts like hell getting the needle in...then doesnt put it in the right vein and only gets the smallest bit of blood (but decided it will be enough) and blood starts running down my arm......useless thing she was.

1pm and all is done...by then DH had to go home (at 1120 he left) with Jasmine as she was so tired and due for a feed....i have something to eat and i begin to feel faint and have to sit down..but im home at last and now im resting up til i need to get Chelsea from FDC!
