HELP - FEELING REALLY REALLY WEAK & ONLY 5 weeks...

    Hi,

This question isn't about me but my best bud who is 5 weeks pregnant. She has just told me that she is feeling really really weak but not tired. Her limbs are aching and she has a period like pain but no bleeding. She currently has a 2.5yr old who was born at 27 weeks so she is freaking out a bit... Has anyone else experienced this at the beginning of their pregnancy. She is going to head up to the hospital at 10pm but I suggested that I post a question to see what people come up with. She has had her blood pressure checked and it was fine. I thought she might need some sugar or something to eat but she said that's not the case... Any ideas??? Thanks xxoo

Hi! I remember early on (but not until about 7 weeks) I got so fatigued but was also really week..like picking up the remote control was an effort. Has she been sick? if she isn't maintaining a fluid intake then that could make her weak. Hope she feels better soon.

I felt that way, too over what would have been my first period. I just curled up on the lounge watching daytime tv (very out of character) and poor dh had to get his own dinner for a while. I'd say give it a while, get plenty of sleep and fluids and good food.

I definately felt weak at about 5-7 weeks, i actually posted in my thread coz i was really worried, i had been throwing up a fair bit though, and trying to eat was impossible coz nothing would stay down, it lasted about 2 weeks before i slowly started feeling a little better, but even now- i am still very fatigued, i had a sleep in today- (i am late for work, but i just couldnt get up!!!) and i am 12 weeks and i am hoping that hte 2nd trimester energy boost hits really soon!! It is very draining making a baby, it takes alot out of our bodies, but if your friend is worried, it wouldnt hurt to go to the dr and get a few blood tests, just to make sure she hasnt picked up a bug or something which is contributing to her tiredness.

    I wish her well!!

I felt pretty weak and tired in the first Trimester, and I had niggly cramps for a few weeks after my + hpt. Then the morning sickness kicked in and all I felt was sick, and tired lol.
Im pretty sure you friend is ok, and just experiencing the "joys" of early pregnancy!

I'm sure your friend has been to the doc by now but weakness like that in pregnancy can be due to lack of iron. I'd been feeling quite tired in my 2nd tri (I knew it was normal in the 1st, but was supposed to get better in the 2nd) and found that I was a little low in iron and have started to take an iron supplement. I now have more energy.
