Hi all - am looking for some advice from you experienced mums...
DH and I want to go with some friends to an outdoor concert/picnic when our baby will be about 11 weeks old... it is a day time thing (starts at 2pm will go til about 8) and it is soul music. held in vineyard and you take picnic rugs, deck chairs, food and wine...
I want to know am i CRAZY to think we can do this with a 11 week old?
Let me know what you think....
My sister in law came along to her family reunion which was a lonngggg picnic when her DD was 9 weeks old. She managed fine, DD slept in her pram most of the time anyway and she just found a quiet area to feed and change her.
I don't see it being much of problem, you will just have extra things to bring with you.
Go for it!! I don't see why you can't. Bub will be with you so you can breastfeed if that's what you're planning, bottles can be warmed up in the car if need be also. S/He will probably enjoy the sunshine & music I say play it by ear, when bub arrives by that stage you'd know whether s/he would cope with it. And if you only go for an hour or two it would still be a nice day out for the family.
Thanks for your replies already!! And they are the answers I was hoping for....
I wanted to check as we need to buy tickets but hey it'll be something to look fwd to and plan for and if it cant happen for some reason then I can sell them I guess.. i should hae mentioned that it is about 2 hr drive from here but i am hoping we can still do it. thanks again for replies - any other opinions welcome of course!!
I think you will be fine. Its not overly loud, you can sit towards the back of the crowd so that its not so squished and you can spread out a bit more.
My two girls at this age would sleep thru anything.....i think you will be fine. Not everything in life you enjoy should stop for bubs. By 11-12 weeks you will be getting a few smiles and cooes....he/she might even enjoy it.

Hi Pregpan
my friends took their bub to the Rugby to watch the Wallabies when she was 8 weeks. It was cold and very noisy but she slept through it all ( her mum was wearing her) Babies are so portable at that age. You should have a great time!!
I reckon it'll be great. I would personally have struggled with a nighttime outing at that age (who am I kidding - I still struggle with nighttime outings, LOL) but during the day everything seems so much more manageable. I think it sounds like a lovely idea. Enjoy!
My gosh yes...go and have fun. We have taken DD to so many things (first thing was a wedding at 10 days old). We drove to adelaide and back when she was 12 weeks old. Just takes a bit more organisation that is all. Have fun.
go for it deffinately, we took ds camping ( in a camper trailer thingie ) when he was 5 weeks, I think as long as you are there and you will be, and as long as you have the pram which you will have, and baby is fed etc all will be fine,
so go on and enjoy yourself.
Thank you all for your replies - makes me feel much more confident with buying tickets etc... i thought it would be fine but being a 1st timer a little nervous and just checking I am not in denial about the chgs I have to make in a few short weeks!!!
when my brothers baby was 12 weeks old, we all went to see "The Man From Snowy River" at Rod Laver Arena - by the sounds of it, that was much louder and more stimulating for bubs - and he was a gem! we hardly knew he was there at all
i say go for it - sounds like it would be a great day out for you
by 11 weeks you should be feeling like you have had a baby forever (the lack of sleep helps with this - LOL), so I can't see any reason why not to plan for something like that.
