Just wondering if anyone has had, or knows someone who has had, or knows the procedure and what happens for, at least an umbilical hernia repair during pregnancy?

I had a hernia pop out during the end of my pregnancy with #2 (6 years ago) but it was reasonably small and the GP said it might go away by itself or it might just need a repair once I am through with having bubs. Then during my pregnancy with #3 (he just turned 1) it got bigger - GP still not concerned. Now I am 19 weeks with #4 (surprise baby) and it is pretty darn huge - and it's been giving me pain. I have been nauseous and had no appetite and been experiencing abdominal pain for the last few weeks. So I was talking to my GP about it today and he is referring me to a surgeon and thinks the surgeon is going to want to operate during this trimester.

Has anyone had it done? Is it different to a normal repair (that's done with mesh)? Will I be forced to have a c-section as a result? Have done some googling, but not really helpful at this stage...
