    High Risk until proven otherwise!!

    this is a rant.

Had my 1st Ob app today. Because i had GD last pregnancy the ob i saw has put me down as high risk basically until (or if) proven otherwise. So I no longer can see the midwives for my appointments, they all have to be with the obs. I thought i would have at least till 26-28 weeks when i did the gd test to see the midwives but now i have to spend hours in the stinking feral waiting room because they are always behind, i have to explain everything to them because they are soooo busy they cant read a file and god knows whats going to happen to my VBAC pfft as if.

Im fine, the baby is perfect, bloods all normal.... everything is going perfect but im already being treated like there is something wrong.

    THIS IS RIGHT!!!

if you are fine and bub is fine then you are not high risk and you need to ditch your ob or get a second opinion what ever it takes.

I had a clinic appt to see an ob (as I have had 2 cs so they automatically set you up with obs expecting a ecs to be your only choice this time) I had a high risk tag from my ob at that appt and went back to my GP to get a referral without the tag.

Vbac is harder with a high risk tag, I am vba2c in Jan and the crap I have been through because of that first ob, it's in my notes you see, and I still have to see a head ob???? I may play hookey for that appt.

I too have perfect BO and blood and have lost a kg which is perfectly in keeping with my bmi. They would have been happy to see me at 19wks and 36wks until I mentioned vbac now they have seen me at 27wks and want to see me again in 4 weeks.

Get empowered cause there'll be at least 1 person trying to talk you out of it!

    Good luck,
    Sarah

Emz - I hear you and can totally relate - I was originally booked into the Birthing Centre and got dropped like a bag of poo the minute I had some suspected "spotting" at 17 weeks and bumped up to high risk because I had mild hypertension last pregnancy - all of a sudden today after what I must say has been a frantic week running around etc - my BP has gone up slightly (140/74) and now I have to do Day Stay next week - I can't stand the OB I'm dealing with either - she gives me more anxiety - told me the other day that Baby was breach - although I know she is head down - go figure, surely she can tell the difference between a bum and a head - or maybe not....OK MY RANT is OVER

Good luck - hopefully you'll get the all clear
