Possible pyloric stenosis picked up on 19 week scan?

So I had my 19 week anatomy and gender scan today. Everything seeming delightfully normal except there was a slight concern about his stomach - apparently the pyloric opening appears to be quite small and they said he may require correction for it when he's born. For now though, they're going to wait and see - they've suggested another scan when I'm about 30 weeks to see if it rights itself over time.

So has anyone else had this happen and everything been ok? I'm told it's not major surgery but I'm kind of hoping it does correct itself before birth.

Sorry no, but just letting you know that I'm thinking of you.
Its hard to know that there's a problem with bubs (no matter how minor it may be).
Surgery is a big thing. Especially on a baby. I've been there with my DD. Her 20wk scan picked up a birth defect called Gastroschisis, where her bowels (all of her small, and part of her large intestine) were outside of her body. Its a scary time.

Hope that it corrects itself. Here if you want to talk. Its going to seem like a long time til your next scan!
    Big big hugs.

Having had PS as a bub, I have read fairly widely.
Scans can pick it up but as you mention, further development of your baby can change things. Also, not all PS is severe enough to warrant surgery and if it's picked up before the baby loses too much condition, studies have shown it can often be treated medically. If surgery is needed, yes, many parents say it's the most stressful time they've ever been through. The good news for you is that it's not nearly as severe as Gastroschesis (what Charlotte91's infant had), that the surgery is quick (usually only 30 mins; try to get it done laparoscopically) and nearly almost successful.
Quite some babies have continuing reflux and/or a list of other problems, but at least they are growing again! Long term ongoing problems are fewer and nearly always able to be lived with. None of my 4 kids have had PS, but there is a genetic element. There are lots of PS experience stories on the Web incl. Facebook. Best wishes to you and your baby.

No experience with it here but just wanted to send you a hug. Thinking of you & hoping it corrects itself & doesn't require surgery.

Dd had this on her 20 week scan but then it cleared.
When she was about 6 weeks old they did an ultrasound to double check as she was throwing up a lot, but it was clear too.
Goodluck, I hope it clears so bubs doesn't need the surgery.

Thanks everyone - I'm kind of glad they picked it up now so they know to be aware of it and can keep an eye on it. Hoping it will clear and glad to hear your DD is fine Loulabelle
