How do I get around this... baby shower game

We are having a few games... One will be how fast can you put the nappy on the baby - to which my MIL wants to use a cloth nappy! Awesome! Love the idea. But they have to fold it first, and pin it on with nappy pins. Sweet! Means I don't have to buy any sposies.

The other game is the one where you smear various things on a nappy (like sauce, melted choc etc) and the guests have to guess what it is.

BUT. For this, I'm assuming I have to use disposables. I don't want to actually buy any. I'm assuming that I'll get disposables for gifts at the shower anyway, which doesn't help coz I wanted to be FT cloth.

I'm sure we'll use some after baby is born, I just didn't want to add any more to landfill than I actually have to.

So, how can I play this game without actually having to buy disposables?

I would just use flats, and then soak them afterwards

i would just use the flats and soak them afterwards. and if you get any disposables as gifts you could always donate them to the hospital

eta - i agree find another game, i think its a gross one anyway....

We did the put on the nappy game at my baby shower, using a cloth nappy and pins. We added to it by timing everyone, one at a time, and adding a phone on the shoulder and some other distraction (can't remember what). No need to do the smell one then.

For the guessing game I think my girlfriend had different jars of baby food that had the labels removed and everyone had to have a taste. Much less gross! You could also try smelling on that one, use a spoon and a jar of food.

I've done this game before too and really, it sounds like fun, but in practice, not so much!!

But if you are set on it, why not use some chux or something to line the flats?

Make miniature nappies (real tiny) outta a old hand towel, cut it up and pin them shut. We played a game at mine where everyone got a minature nappy (one had melted chocolate in it) and you got the choice to swap your nappy with who ever your caught out using the magic word. At the end you open it up and see who "won" a prize. Game can also be played by everyone having two safety pins and the first one to catch you saying baby takes one of your pins until the end and you see who has the most.

We did the one Jen suggested at a baby shower where you had to pick the flavours of baby food from unmarked jars- it was fun! (I won but only cause I had a 1 yr old at the time so was using some of the stuff and recognised it- you certainly can't tell much from the taste LOL.
