How far overdue did you go?

Well I am getting pretty desperate here, I am looking for some positive stories of people who went really overdue and managed to go into labor naturally.

I am currently 8 days overdue, and booked in to be induced on Saturday. I am still really hoping to go into labor naturally, but am starting to loose hope. I know that I could fight to have a couple of extra days, but to be quite honest I don't have the headspace/ energy/ will power to go on any longer than the weekend- I am so uncomfortable and fed up, and just want to get on with my life again.

So how far overdue did you go, and did you manage to beat your induction date?

DD1 I was 8 days over and booked in to be induced that night, had to be at the hospital by 6 they did a check once I was there and said there wasn't any point inducing me as i was dialated and things were on the way themselves all they did was break my waters to hurry things along a little.
There is hope and usually they say with due dates it can be 2 weeks either way (38-42 weeks)
It is possible you will go into labour naturally after all its what our bodies are meant to do when bubs is ready, just make sure if you dont want induction which you can refuse the hospital closely monitor you and bub

    I hear you!

DS was born at 12 days overdue. I was book in for an induction the very next day. (I had two stretch and sweeps at 8 and 10 days over).

We were sure about our dates as he was IVF (very precise!). But the MWs were happy to let us go to 13/14 days over before the induction.

I think that when DS decided he was ready, I started labour and it was game on! No days of pre labour for me. The time between the very first contraction and the 2nd contraction was 4 minutes and I progessed very rapidly after that. So I reckon DS wanted to avoid the induction as much I did!

I think I had almost resigned myself to the induction, so I was somewhat suprised to go into labour! Maybe I was that bit more relaxed and that helped. DH and I had planned to spend our last couple day together before the induction doing special things (but turned out we spent it in labour).

So sending you lots of labour vibes.

DD was 12 days 'overdue'. I didn't have an induction booked, I would've talked about that only after 14 days. Just remember, it's only an Estimated Due Date, babies aren't all ready at the same time! Your baby WILL come naturally whenever the time is right, just try and relax and be patient (gosh I remember how hard that was!!)

Mum went 28 days o/d with me.
Are you going to try acupuncture or EPO or anything natural to help things along?

I went 14 days over with DD1, no labour.

12 days over with DD2 and went into labour on my own (because I couldn't be induced anyway). I did lots of shaking my booty, and had an osteo treatment the day before.

DD1 went 8 days over, DD2 went 7 days over & DD3 was 5 days over. DS was cheeky & came 2 days early!
Induction was only discussed with DD1 after my ob booked me in for 2 days over due. My mum had a little talking to me & I rang my gp & realised that it wasn't the best thing to do.
It never got to the point of discussion with the others, probably coz I stuck with my gp after that.

I have a good friend who went 2 weeks 2 days over & didn't end up needing an induction, but had to fight for that right.

7 days, and we read the brochure about how horrible inductions are the night before the induction was scheduled at 9am, went into labour at 3am, had baby at 8:30am

So all you need is a baby who can read, so you can scare them out

DS was born 10 days overdue, we were going to be induced the next day, they did a strech and sweep and that was enough to get things going on my own

Maybe ask for a s and s? it is a tad uncomfortable, but doesnt hurt.

    GL!

with ds1, i was 7 days over, they had mee booked in for a induction on the very day i went into labour (witch i wasnt planing on going to, didnt want one, if i didnt go it couildnt happen!)
ds2, was apparently 3 weeks early, at 37 weeks gestation (nurse did admit it was very likely i was right with the dates and he was either small or measured wrong on the dating scan as he had characteristics of a over due bub, long nails and a few other things i forget now.)
with dd i was 9 days over, lots of high energy cleaning the day befor got her moving i think!
im prety certain this one will be at least a week late aswell.
in my opinon, bub comes when bub is ready.

    13 days overdue with DD.

They booked an induction at 10days over and I said no, so they booked one at 14days over and I agreed. She came on her own all natural labour 13 days over the EDD.

Try and push them off if you dont want to be induced. If your baby is doing well in their then they should give you some more time.

    Good luck.

I was induced at 42 weeks - unfavourable cervix and very happy baby, so who knows how much longer it might have been.
If it comes to it, I'm going to wait it out this time. I figure I'm a slow cooker.

Hope this baby makes a move for you very soon

8 days...and I was booked to have induction at 10 days. I beat it by deciding I wasn't going to have one and they couldn't force me to.

Lots of walking, lots of activity, lots of relaxing (will be harder with a child! lol) and breathing and meditation.

I went 11 days over. I was booked in to be induced the following day but DS just didn't want to wait. I had a spontaneous drug-free labour with no interventions whatsoever. There's a link to my birth story in my sig if you want to read it.

    Good luck.

I went 12 days over with DS. There was NO WAY i was going to be induced! I had a homebirth and the backup hospital's policy was 10 days over before induction but as i was so adamant i didn't want to be induced they were going to allow me to go up to 14 days over with extra foetal monitoring. Luckily, my baby must have heeded my advice to come earlier than 14 days! I would have happily gone up to 4 weeks over as long as my baby was happy... but with the Community Midwifery Program that wouldn't have been an option anyway.
