how much water are you drinking?

How much water is everyone drinking?

I read that you should drink plenty (I do). But that drinking too much can be a sign of bad things. I'm not sure how much is too much.

Today is a warm day in Melbourne (30 degrees). I have been cycling (50 minutes) and swimming (30 minutes) today, so getting my fair share of exercise. I think I'll end up drinking between 3 and 4 litres of water today.

    Is that too much?

I'm not going to not drink, of course - that would be silly and probably dangerous. But I find I'm getting through so much (I guess normal for non-pregnant me would be 2-3 litres) that I'm worrying that maybe something is wrong. I'm not terribly thirsty, mostly, I just keep wanting to drink a bit and a bit more and so on...

How much is enough water that it would be a worry?

I drink between 2 and 3 litres every day - I should probably drink more but I've gotta work up to it!

i drink anywhere from 3L upwards on an average day

when you're pg, your blood volume increases so you need more water.

i think you just need to keep an eye on it - if it's normal thirst and drinking out of habit (as it is with me) it's fine - if it's excessive thirst (you've just finished a glass of water and still feel parched) then it's worth mentioning to your doctor

I used to drink hardly any before I was pg, probably no where near the "8 glasses" you are supposed to have..but now I drink so much more...I take two water bottles to work with me, one is about 750ml, the other 600ml, I normally end up finishing the larger one and have a quarter to half of the other one while at work. When I get home I usually have at least another 600ml. Somedays though I don't drink that much, but I am trying!!

ss_storm: im glad to see someone else is struggling with the drinking water business!! before i was pg i would drink no water, only soft drink or juice, and maybe half a glass of water next to my bed at night which rarely got drunk...now i am forcing myself to have a 600ml bottle at work and one at night...but i still have 1 can of soft drink a day...trying to have lemonade/things with no caffiene rather than coke but its very hard!!! try having cordial in your water it made it alot easier for me in the first few weeks...now im getting used to drinking water out of habit! good luck!
