One thing that was concerning is she said that I was measuring 8 days behind. I have read that anything over 1 week is a concern?
She did say that the baby was in proportion and it just may mean that it may just be a small baby. Me and my sister were both small so maybe my bub is the same? Any insight to this? Should I be concerned.
Also what causes the baby to measure behind or be small?
Thanks girls we are so excited we have a Princess on the way!
Congratulations on finding out you'll be having a little princess soon! I must say, girls are fantastic
Can't help you with the measurements though, but if your dr isn't too concerned, then neither should you.
Thanks for your replies Girls. It wasnt my doctor that did the scan, it was just done at an ultrasound clinic. My results get sent to my doctor and I am due to see him in about 1 week.
you could have ovulated earlier than thought ... but hey when was you last period? Do your dates add up? as some time these u/s can be inaccurate as well.
I know as my pregnancy dates were a month out between when i though my baby was due and when the u/s thought he was due. Mine was July 12 edd from LMP and U/S was July 31 and i had him June 29 he was perfect! So go with your dates! xx
My Last cycle started on the 15th of Feb, I ovulated on the 1st of March. Iknow this as I chart and was on fertility drugs. My 6 week scan I measured on time and my 12 week I was 1 day behind and now my 20 I am 8 days behind
Congratulations. As for measuring 8days less that is fine. As the measurements at 20weeks is the "average" size at that age there is alot of variation in size for women at that gestation. The closer you are to conception (in the first 2-3months of pregnancy) the more accurate size is due to the fact that time has not allowed bubs to grow long enough to get a great variation between each different baby. The closer you get to your EDD the bigger the variation can be. For example a lady with a growth restricted baby was induced at term (due to growth resitriction) her term U/S was saying she was 31weeks going by the size of her baby on US but they knew from earlier ultrasounds she was term. Bub was born at 1.8kilos. Its the same story for women who have 20weeks scans saying they are a week or two ahead of their original EDD. The correct EDD to go by would be the date of O or date from an earlier scan. Sounds like everything is perfect.
Hi Alana555 - I am having a scan today at 4ish for exact same reason! At my 20 weeks can ob said was measurin gnehind but didn't say how much - he wasn't concerned but just wanted to check it at 28 weeks to be sure. I'll let you know but he did say there was NOTHNG he was worried about.
well my son was measuring 2 weeks ahead the entire pregnancy and even now he is bigger than babies that are 2-3 weeks older than him, but don't panic your sweet princess will probably be a danty little one which is wonderful for a girl.
Good Luck hun.
