    A kinda stupid question

but how often do you make an appointment to see your GP in early pregnancy? I seriously cannot remember.

Once to confirm, and then it depends on what care level you're going to use.

I went to get a BT done to verify pg, then I generally don't see another person (usually a midwife/OB @ the hospy for first apptment) until 12 wks. Though if I had any issues like bleeding (1st 3 pg's), I went for referrals for US's and quantative BT's. Otherwise there's not much else a GP can do for you in such early pg. If you have issues like severe m/s or cramping or something, then you could go for referrals or medicine, but otherwise, not much else is checked before 12ish wks IME anyway!!

I think I went monthly at first - 8w; 12w; 16w; 20w (scan); 24w; 28w and then I think it was fortnightly until 36 weeks and then weekly after that.

It does depend on the type of care you want, the type of pg you have and what you are comfortable with.

With my GP - once when I found out I was preggers to organise, referrals for BTs, Ob (by 10 weeks) and Dating U/S. After that Its all over the the Ob unless your doing shared care and the Ob should advise you when you sould be making appointments for GP and Ob

Kaz, not sure at the moment. Going to ring the hospital tomorrow to ask what they suggest. I'm kinda a special case (pregnancy after a rupture/dehiscence).

That's what I thought Kell, but then i was wondering when I'm supposed to get a referral for a NT scan if I don't go before 12 weeks.

Thanks Kaz, might ring the GP tomorrow and find out what they do.

Nae, we don't have any Obs here, so I'm wondering I earlier might be better to find out my care options
