I am 28th weeks pregnant and from past 10 days in a very depressing situation.
10 days ago first time I had flashy lights in eyes I thought its weakness or may be sugar levels are down because throughout my pregnancy I couldn't eat sugar, fruits or even juice.
any ways I had 3 spoons of honey and I was fine with in five minutes but later on I had headache ,very weak legs, sweats and I was cold (I felt depressed too) after that things looked so fine but now from a week its been every day I have that attack, and the duration is increasing too.yesterday it was for 25 minutes despite eating 3 table spoons of honey it took long to disappear.
I am booked at Sandy hospital Melbourne I asked my doc she said its all because of combination of Low blood pressure and low sugar levels.she took it so lightly.
just had my diabetes test my sugar levels are in normal range.
I have started eating quite well from past 10 days and eating 6 times to prevent the symptoms but nothing looks fine.i don't thinks its because of my sugar levels are down otherwise symptoms would have improved.
What I do? This thing gives me panic attacks.flashes scares me to death.please suggest me if any one have faced such symptoms and diagnosed some treatment too.
Your symptoms sound like low blood pressure and if low it does make you feel horrid.
All I can suggest is eat and drink even more then you feel like you want to and when you go to move do it slowly. Sudden movements can trigger episodes of feeling faint or out of body type feelings. You may find some times of day worse then others times and some fluids better then others. If you have been checked out by a Dr to make sure its not high blood pressure then I would be sure that its the low blood pressure making you feel so terrible.
You might find towards the end of your pregnancy it will improve but not neccessarily. It should improve after your baby arrives. Other then increase your fluid intake or if neccessary have IV fluids in hospital there is not alot you can do for low BP. I had a terrible time with my BP when I was thinner then I am now. I had to keep moving or it would plummet and had to eat and drink alot just to function normally. I was terrible between about 2am and 11am.
I'd say it is low blood pressure too. I have had it with all of my pregnancies and it is identical to how you described it. I always try to stay really hydrated also and keep a bottle of water beside me at all times as I found this helped.
All the best hun
Yeah, I've had a few eposides like that, it's not a lot of fun.
If you can, eat regularly, and when these episodes happen, try and have a lie down somewhere with your feet elevated, that gets the blood pumping back to your head again.
Thank you all sweet ladies your replies really helped me to ease my panic condition.I have just called to hospital and midwife asked to come there to see me.
I will update once I am back.

just thought I'd throw this in too - I get flashing lights about half an hour before I get a migraine - I dont know if youve ever had one?
Whatever it is I hope it gets better soon!
