Back Pain or Kidney Infection - How do you tell the difference??

Hi there All

Just a quickie - I've got an incredibly sore mid-lower back atm - starting from the ribs.

I've had recurring UTI's so I'm a little concerned that it may be kidney pain - I've been off to the GP's last night and had my urine tested and it has come back all clear (they tested twice) but my back in that area is killing me.

So what I'm wondering is - Can it still be kidney pain even with a clear Urine sample?? and can anyone tell me the difference from kidney pain vs back pain - atm I'm just in pain

Please note I don't have any other unusual symptoms in relation to a possible UTI - ie no burning wee etc....just a sore back

talking from personal experiance i had a kidney infection, pain in kidneys (agony actually) my urine sample was clear but i ended up in hospital. i had no burning when weeing but had bad pain in my kidneys and it only showed in my bloods (i think cant remember much).
sorry cant be of much help but telling you what happened to me i wasnt pg though.
huni hope this has helped. my advice is go back to your gp and tell them you are still in pain.
