Iron supplements

Has anyone been told that iron supplements can cause bleeding in pg? My friend (a nurse) told me that some people react badly to the supplements & it can cause bleeding. Since I had a bleed a week after I started taking the supplements, I wondered if anyone else has been told this? (I have stopped taking the iron for now until I can check it out).

No I have never hear of this and I'm a nurse also.
There is a medical problem where if a person is having a bleed in thier bowel, their poo is black and tarry. If someone is on iron supps, thier poo can look blackish. It sometime look similar.
