    Hi Lindie

I am no expert as I am pregnant with my first but my first thought is not to be too concerned. Maybe the reason you are measuring way ahead of dates is because your body has been through it all before.

Well thats what I think anyways

Yeah Lindie, is the measurements from an U/S or the fundal height measurements?

Lindie, when you say 'measuring' do you mean on u/sound or just fundal height?

Fundal measurements are not relied upon very heavily from what I've read. I remember during my first prg DD was measuring about 3 weeks ahead at one stage but I was told they don't 'worry' about it until it's about 4 weeks then they'd do an u/sound to check.

Sorry should have been more acurate heh...sorry very long day..

No my 18-20 week ultrasound at 19 weeks was showing all measurements at 18w4d etc.. all within that range but at my OB check up yesterday my fundal height was 31 weeks when I should from scan dates and LNMP dates 25 weeks so thats 6 weeks out?? Just seems like a lot really.

Im not too worried just in all my pregnancies have never suffered this before.

    Thanks girls

It does seem like alot of a difference hey! I know sometimes the way bubs in lying can reflect on fundal measurements. But like you said it would be hard to be concerned when there is such a big difference. I did read on another thread that sometimes they would refer for and U/S if the measurements are more or less than 6 weeks out, but they didn't with my sister who was measuring 36weeks at 28weeks pregnant, is your career sending you for another U/S?

    Heh Mel,

Yes I can have another scan when ever I like basically, Hes just saying this is a big baby, I just cant see how 6 weeks ago was fine and now measuring huge???

Just wondered if anyone else had had this and what the outcome was?

I think I may wait till my next appointment and see how far measurements are then go from there... Its just 6 weeks out seems a little on the extream side.

As I am typing I think I may request and Ultrasound or something what if dates are really out or something is actually wrong?

    Thanks again

Lindie, my baby was measuring roughly the 'right' gestation at my 18-20 wk scan. I had a 32 wk scan also, to check for placenta praevia, and at 32wks, my baby was measuring 36wks. We were absolutely certain about dates, as it was an assisted conception.

Anyway, my baby ended up being born weighing 4.86kg (10lbs 11.5 oz), 2 days before my due date. So looks like my u/s was right about having a big baby.

Wow Cherie, he was a big boy, you poor thing.
Lindie, I hope everything works out for you. I'm sure everything is just fine with bubs and a little sneaky peaky on another U/S would be great. Good luck, but I'm sure you won't need it.

Most places no longer do the fundal height measurement because it is so inaccurate. I would not worry about it if your U/S was fine

My fundal measurement was measuring a week behind and bubs 2 weeks ahead of the original due date. It's not very accurate. I was told a really big difference can mean twins. Have you had a scan to show u arent having twins?

Yes two twin scans LOL, just to double check LOL.... so its not that, but would be a shock if that were true I would have 3 babies in 17 months LOL, you would see me on bellybelly very rarely then LOL

My last 3 pregnancies I had always measured on date ie. right cms for weeks or sometimes a week maybe off. My Ob says big baby and its an caesarean so no worries about her getting stuck...although lately I had thought about trying for a VBAC but not now....

But 6 weeks shes going to be HUGE!!!!

My DS1 was 8p8o my DD2 8p5o My DS2 who is 14months was only 6p2o so lets see how big shes going to be...she may very well be a monster!!!!!

And heres the ultrasound ladies saying she was tiny LOL, calling her a delicate little dancer, shes going to be a full back for the broncos at this rate LOL

Thanks everyone I may just take my OB up on that Ultrasound.....

I measured way ahead for the whole of the 3rd trimester with Harrison... I was told by many midwives and a Dr that he was going to be a big baby... and he weighed 7lb 10oz born... I kept telling my DH that he felt the same size as Maddy who was 7lb 9oz... but I was constantly told he would weigh bigger like James who was 9lb 7oz
