Nesting Urges?

I have this on my FB status too so some of you may think Ihave lost the plot by asking twice

I have this urge to wash all my old newborn stuff including wraps. They were all washed before packing away and still smell like nappysan as I had soaked them all before packing up.

I have approx 6 weeks left but I just feel like I NEED to do this. I have a few things out to go into my labour bag for when the baby actually arrives.

So should I just wash and satisfy this urge - which will mean washing again closer to time to ensure everything is nice and fresh, or should I just wait a few more weeks?

DO satisfy your nesting urges as you get them??

Oh its not like I don't have other washing to do its just my needingto wash for the new baby .

I'd wash them. But then, I've learnt that ignoring my nesting urges or trying to restrain myself leads to getting stressed and irritable, whereas if I just go with it it'll pass soon enough.

do it! I have only just stopped being obsessed with the scent of cleaning products, I was even sniffing the washing powder there for a while! I have mopped every 2 days for about 8 weeks just to smell the lemon ajax! have fun!

That sounds like one heck of a nesting urge!!!!

I would wash them - what the worry with doing it again in a couple of week - an extra dose of washing products?? You're sanity is definitely worth more than that!!!

I remember when I did the baby clothes was before DD was born I spent ages taking photos of them - now I have all these random photos of baby clothes lol

Do it. Once done, you'll find something else that needs rearranging 'just so' I didn't get it so much with DS, but got it with a vengeance to make up for it with DD!

I washed all of our nb stuff again, including blankets (plus all the new MCNs - but the instructions said I had to!!) a couple of weeks ago. It was a nesting thing for me too, plus I quite like washing. Pulling out all the tiny clothes and looking at them again, especially with DD, brought it all home that soon we'd have our new baby girl here.

I don't think you're odd at all!

The nesting urge I have to file all of my office paperwork I am suppressing.

I hate washing personally...but my kitchen is getting a going over today, then the floors and I really really want to wash the car. For some reason I want to do it the old way, with a bucket not just at one of those car wash places....

I say go with them as you think of them. It kept me sane and with things to do while I was in my last few weeks
I organised and cleaned my pantry to the point that if DH put something out of place, he was in BIG trouble poor love.
I also put our CD's in Alphabetical order.
I also groomed my Cat to the point when she saw me coming (even if I wasn't going to brush her) she would go running!
The house has never been so clean as when I am nesting..wish I was in a nesting mood all of the time

My DH nested on my behalf. I was too fat and lazy to do it but if I had an urge, any urge, I would have certainly gone with it lol

Like I said, that's what I've been doing today! Had a great time going through Moo's clothes, setting aside what I was keeping just for him and what the new baby could wear again. Took me aaaages!

Well I have a load in

I keep looking at the newborn stuff thinking "nooooooooo thats sooo small DD wasn't really thats small ... was she?" I think I have almost decided on my special "bring the baby home" outfit too.

Nai got me a gorgeous little outfit for DD was tempted to use it again but decided Tummybunny should have her own "look" so that outfit isn't in the wash.

I will still need to do blankies etc for the hossy stay and I have got a couple of smaller hand croched (sp?) cardi's just in case we get a super icey room again.

I keep looking at a gorgeous knitted shawl (think oversized baby blanket) that MIL made I would LOVE to use that in the hossy but it might be too big for those little plastic tubs the babies sleep in.

It also occured to me - I have forgotten how to "wrap" a baby mg: the traditional swaddling way was still in when we had dd but by the time SIL had her DD 3 months later the hossy had changed to a different way called "Angel wrapping"

I have no idea hwo to do either - though I CAN still remember how to fold a flat nappy *phew*

I am still in disbelief over the size of the 0000. I think I will cry when this baby grows out of things as DH has put his foot firmly down on the whole "no more babies" issue - but thats a whole other thread.

I wish my nesting instinct would kick in - I keep looking around and seeing that things need to be done, and then I wander off and do something else instead and forget all about it.

Just do it. I wash all the baby stuff at least twice before bubs comes, I just live touching the stuff lol

SO todays nesting urge was pretty much that ... I decided to clean out the chook house *blerk* as my girls had stopped laying in there and had started laying inthe old shed. I still have the coop airing now and really should go and put some fresh hay in there ....... so lazy today

Oh my goodness, go with the urge while you have it - I'm an avoider of housework lol and I;'ve been nesting something chronic since I found out at 3wks 2d! lol
