Question Has anyone been to an osteopath???

I'm booked in to see an osteopath for the first time on monday for pelvic pain (SPD). I'm a little nervous cause i have no idea what they actually do!! My ob suggested it when i mentioned i was starting to get the pain again (i got it with my DS) and gave me a number to call.
Has anyone been to one?? What do they do??? Is it going to hurt alot?? The pain isnt too bad yet but its meant to be worse second time round and it was bad enough the first time..

I have been seeing an osteopath regularly (about once every 4 weeks) for 2 years. I LOVE it! I went throughout my pregnancy and found it to be a huge help with back pain and pain around my pelvis.
Basically they treat you with massage and some spinal adjustments. Though when you are preg. they hardly do any adjustments - especially if you are not used to it. The massage is firm and gets into those knots and tight areas really well. I always feel 100% better after a session.
If it is your first time, they should take you through what will happen and if you have any questions, just ask. Enjoy!

Osteopaths are fantastic, they dont manipulate in the same sense as a chiropractor, its a real gentle method. I've been seeing one for 10 years now and have only ever had brilliant results.

I have seen an osteopath before, although not while pregnant (had no need)

The osteo I saw was excellent, and I found the treatments very effective.

I also took DS to a cranial osteopath when he was 7 weeks old which helped a bit with some feeding issues and sleeping issues we had

I am in love with my Osteopath! He is a genius. It will seem like they do nothing but the next day you will feel it and then each day after you feel better.

Mine says, and I quote "when you feel yukky come back", bless him

I've not personally been to an osteopath, but one of my close friends goes regularly and can't seem to praise it enough. She says that it doesn't hurt and she comes out feeling a lot better than she did going in. So I would have no hesitation in going to an osteopath if I was recommended to do so.

I have been seeing student osteopaths at the Vic Uni clinic in Melbourne for ages and they are great - I am sure a "real" osteo would be even better
