Just thought I'd share my Maxalon experience with you guys..... I got it from the chemist and took a tablet when I got home... It made me really lethargic and my legs ached really badly, I had to lie in bed with them up on a cushion! It gave me the shakes and I must have looked like an addict to people while I was out in town... I wasn't being sick though or feeling nauseaous so I thought that was a plus!
The next day I was still fidgety, my legs still ached so I decided to halve the dose... cutting the tablets in half and taking 1 half every 3 or 4 hours.... The effect of this was less shakiness, still achy legs but still no vomiting!!
The day after that I then cut down my tablet into quarters and have been taking 1 quarter 2 or 3 times a day so all up I'm taking 1/2 - 3/4 of a tablet a day instead of 3 whole tablets!! I now have no fidgeting, no achiness, and slight nausea which is managable!!
I guess the moral of my story is that I know some girls aren't touched by Maxalon but I found it to be very very strong and that even though its in tablet form, try controlling the dose by halfing and quartering the tablets until you find a dosage that works best for you....
I started on maxolon yesterday after a severe bout of vomiting over the weekend. While I did appreciate not feeling like I was going to puke constantly, I absolutely hated the lethargy and inability to actually keep my eyes open and do stuff. I found I took so many naps during the day that I couldn't sleep properly at night.
I was planning to tough it out today and not take any... but was feeling way too queasy to get too far doing that. Also doesn't help that I've got a case of diarrhea right now, which makes the nausea worse.
I just remembered seeing your post and have just taken half a tablet. I'm hoping like mad that it will be enough to make the nausea subside without turning me into a complete zombie.
Goodluck BW, I hope the half tablet works well for you!
I wish I had thought of this when I was taking maxalon for my prac... cause it did make me sooo sleepy, but luckily I had no other side effects from it.
I can't take Maxalon full stop as I have a reaction to it and I have to have an injection to counteract it. I think it is call occularcrisis (something like that). I feel like a space cadet, I can't lie down or close my eyes, my muscle seize up and I walk around looking at the ceiling. Very scary experience!!!
I'm certainly doing much better today. I've just gone a bit over 4 hours on my half tablet, and I'm currently trying to decide whether I need more. Is diarrhea a side effect of maxolon? It's at least a little easier to cope with as your digestive system is at least running in the right direction, even if it is on fast forward!
It's not as though I'm not used to taking drugs - I take a scary amount each day to manage my various conditions. I'm fine with codeine and mersyndol (not that I'll touch it now I'm pregnant), but I just can't cope with the zombie-like feeling from things like stemetil and maxolon. I end up being so non-functional on them anyway, that I prefer to just rest and take it easy and at least have my brain working.
I'm starting to feel much more confident that I'll be up to work next week when the holidays end.
Thanks so much once again, leeloo. It's amazing how we don't often think of the simple solutions for ourselves.
Glad I could actually be of some help.. BW I had a bit of diaorreah when I took 1 whole tablet but it cleared up... I didn't mind actually cause I'd been so blocked up otherwise!! I always worried that if I was so keyed up with taking the maxalon hopefully bub isn't doing crazy laps as well!!
