    Talking It's all happening!

GIRLS - my friend, whose birth I'm attending, is in labour this morning! I'm off to gather some things for the birth, and then I'm gonna be there!

Wish me luck, lots of prayers and good vibes and baby juju! Contractions started at 3am this morning, and are 4minutes apart, and she's 2cm dilated, so I reckon this baby's gonna be born this afternoon!

    SQUEEE!!!!

Oh Helly, good luck for your friend... How EXCITING!!!!! I still remember being in the car on my way to hospital while in labour with DD, I had a huge smile on my face between contractions (about 2-3 mins apart by then) When I got to the hospital they wanted to send me home because I couldn't be in labour when I looked so happy & "comfortable", I said "but I'm excited!" LOL They did the internal & found I was 4cm dilated, boy did they get a shock!!

I hope the labour goes nice & smooth (as smooth as possible) for your friend, what a wonderful experience for you!!!

    Have a great day

    Helly,
Good Luck, I had a friend a few years ago that asked me to be a birth partner, It was the best experience. Pack lots of tissues - I know I could have used them because I cried like a baby myself when little Zeek was born.
How exciting, keep us updated about the whole experience when you get a chance. I look forward to hearing about it.

Mama and baby girl are fine, interventions happened (which I though were not necessary, fortunately it's none of my business) which meant I was unable to be there for delivery. I spent the night grieving for the lost experience, but have come through alright. Spent several hours with the new parents this morning, they are exhausted but happy, and sweet baby Lyra is in perfect health.

And yes, it did make me think a LOT about my own labour, mostly grieving for the circumstances that may occur that I will have no control over. I think that scares me more than knowing I'll be in pain - knowing that at some point, the decision making could be taken out of my hands and given to someone else!

Baby Lyra Joy, born at 4:30 this morning, just over 4 kg, and already a song in her parents heart.

Sorry your experience was taken away from you Helly, hopefully when your time comes it will all happen your way (as mine did)

Must make you excited seeing the new little baby, you'll have your own in your arms so soon!!

Hey Dannielle - whoop, I think I was still sleep deprived when I wrote that, meant to say 4kg. She was a good sized bub, only 5 days "overdue".

I hope that things for me will at least happen as closely as they can to what I dream of!! She's so beautiful to look at, you just think, it must be totally worth it.
